Dating after surgery?
I recently went in for my pre-op nutritional class and she showed us the TINY amount of food I will eat after surgery. (I am a band patient). I was then talking with a friend about her date this past weekend. My question is the following. If you are on a dinner date how do we gracefully hide the fact that we have had WLS if we havent told them yet, but the majority of the meal is sitting on the plate and you are stuffed??
I dated right up until a few days before my surgery, and started dating one month after. My advice if you're shy about your surgery is to do non-eating dates first, or stick to coffee or "drinks" or ice cream.... whatever you can nibble at without suspicion. You can push your food around and use the "I'm not that hungry" or "had a late lunch" excuses. If it comes up, just be honest. It's never made that much of a difference, and I keep it light ("you actually bought me three dinners!") and it's not a big deal to the guys either. Happy dating!
Just from a guy perspective - I don't think you'll arose too much suspicion until later on, when you might want to tell him anyway. There's not much logic behind the amount of food I've seen various ladies eat on a date. if it were me I'd just assume you're nervous if you're not eating that much.
Just a warning though, you won't be able to eat hardly anything at a restaurant for awhile. I'd say dinner dates are out of the picture for three or four months.
Also, most of us guys only suggest dinner dates when we're slow on ideas for other types of dates. I'd say most guys would gladly go for something else if you steered them away from dinner dates. Something to think about :)

Most people don't say anything. Well, that might be because my sister and I ALWAYS split our entrees. If I'm alone, people still don't really notice. Waiters do though!!! They always ask if something was wrong with the meal. lol.
Here's what I say:
I'm a picky eater
I'm tired and in a weird mood
That pretty much covers it. But trust me, people really don't notice.. especially in large groups.
