HELP! Calcium Citrate plus D3 Chewable?
so on paperwork from my doctor it says that post op i need to take calcium citrate plus d3 chewable or liquid post op. the problem is i can't find any around me. i've gone to the vitamin shoppe, gnc, walmart, rite aid, and a ma and pa health food store. i did find calcium citrate plus d3 that is in petite pill form and says "can be absorbed with or without food, does not need stomach acid to be absorbed" so i purchased that but its not liquid or chewable like the doctors information said. plus, its only 200mg a pill so i'd have to take 7 of them daily when the recommended dose on the package is 2-3 a day unless otherwise directed by physician. i'm so confused.
i know on bjs bariatrics there are calcet bites and while these would be perfect they're also 13 bucks for a 10 day supply... i just can't afford it.
does anyone have any advice for me?

Ask on the mb if it's ok to crush calcium. If so you can crush them and mix in with crystal light or unsweetened apple sauce with splenda.
I don't think the calcium is that essential when your on puree anyways. Ask your doctor if a multivitamin chewable will be enough for the first few weeks. That's what I did.

That is what I got... I can just mix it with my protein drink or juice. Just make sure you don't take it when you take your Iron because they cancel each other out. Plus this site has FREE shipping on all their products!!

Hi.. i'm in my 3rd week since surgery and i've been taking the bariatric advantage calcium plus D3 chews.. they taste kinda like a tootsie roll and since they're low in calcium - 250mg per serving i double up 3x/day. it does get tough to remember sometimes but i like the flavor and i get my calcium in. The brand i use is bariatric advantage. The pharmacy at my hospital carries them but if yours doesn't you can always order them online at:

i really enjoy the chocolate but the raspberry is pretty ok also.. i just get sick of it more quickly.
Good luck to you!

At walmart they have a wellness brand of calcium citrate plus d3 tastes like a orange cream. My Dr said it was good to use its liquid and you only have to take it 3 times a day.
Also i was at a WLS meeting last night they where talking about not to chew the pills anymore to let them just dissolve in your mouth so that it doesn't rune your teeth later on in life.
