Is it possible??

Is it possible to work out enough and have okay genes so that you won't have crazy extra skin? I'm very very very excited to have my RNY (hopefully in March 2011) but my excitement about the "new me" and "my new self esteem" seems to be coming to a screeching halt when I see everyone talking about how this extra skin is inevitable. Are these people not working out enough? Are they just bigger than me? Am I doomed? I know that plastic surgery is an option... but not one I feel like is for me since I'm hoping to have kids someday and don't think fixing my stomach or boobs will be benefited much since they will grow and change with pregnancy.

I guess I should also say that I'm not obvlious to the notion that I have A LOT of weight to lose and I do expect some areas to be baggier than I would like. I'm just worried that I'm doomed to having arms that reach the floor and my stomach sag between my knees like some photos I see. Vain? Yes, I know... but maybe more just nerves of the surgery?

I guess I'm stirring the pot again, but I've been on this forum for almost 3 years and I've seen a lot of success and failure stories with EVERY type of surgery. I think you're really doing a disservice to the "DS movement" if you will by posting these types of videos just because someone says they're getting RNY surgery.

You really ought to just mention the DS and let the facts speak for themselves. Telling people what surgery they ought to get is something we've never really done on this forum - it always seems to blow up on the main forum every few months. I'm speaking out of what has traditionally worked best on here and I don't mean to sound like I'm sort of authority on all this.

and BTW, if your surgeon tells you there is something wrong with the DS and only does RNY I would question it. My surgeon told me that he only does RNY and lap-band but that he could refer me to another surgeon if I wanted to know more about it.

I'm assuming that Potato guy posted something about how she should get DS.... It's sickening. I have him blocked because of his comments and implying because someone choose a certian surgery they basically are going to fail.

Unbelievable. I use this site for support, not to be bashed because of a person choice!!!

WIth that kind of weight to lose, you can not escape the need for plastics. I wouldn't worry about it. What I would worry about is that the RNY is not the best surgery for your BMI range. Definitely for anyone BMI over 50 or anywhere near there, the duodenal switch is the best surgery. www.dsfacts.com
