If this is what you want as a behavior modification you have lost your marbles.

I dont mean to be rude, but i read a lot of your posts, and i feel like you are a little overly opionated on certain things. I understand your are trying to be helpful, but i think sometimes you make it seem like if people choose to do a certain surgery, they are choosing the wrong surgery. This forum is to SUPPORT people and the choices they make, not discourage them. I understand you had a hard time with your surgery, and i am sorry you did, but i think you should hold back your opinion a little bit, because it may discourage someone from the choice that they made. I am having RNY, and i chose this surgery because it is what i feel comfortable with, it is the right decision for me, but i personally feel like you are constantly making comments on peoples posts, downing the decisions they have made about the surgery they want. I understand you have had a bad expirience and am happy for you that you are trying to fix it, but not everybody will expirience what you have gone through. I may be the only one who feels this way, and that is fine, but almost everytime i read something you post, i think you are being rude, or a little too over opinionated, and it turns me off a little bit from the site, and this post just pushed me over the line a little...Everybody is different, and everybody has the right to choose what is best for them, please respect there decision and not make them feel in any way they are making a bad choice...

I don't really care if I'm overly opinionated. Preopers deserve to hear from people who are longer out of surgery about the long term issues with surgery. I would rather offeend a few people, but have one person educated enough to make an informed decision about surgery. Under the informed consent laws a surgeon is not required to explain alternatives to surgery. It turns out that all medical research shows that the DS is the most effective surgery, and most surgeons aren't even skilled to do this procedure.

Because of the ill effects of my previous surgery, I am now needing to undergo a drastic revision surgery. I wouldn't want anyone else to have to go through this. If you read all the posts in the revisions forum, everything I say here is a reoccuring theme there; RNY patients needing revision to DS, and VSG patients who need the second half of the DS. Also, many band patients who get revised to RNY and many times band too RNY to DS.

Preopers come to town with ideas about surgery like wanting dumping that makes no damn sense. Only someone who was truly ignorant of how serious of a medical problem dumping syndrome is would claim they want to dump. Dumping is caused because bypassing the stomach (gastric bypass) does not preserve the pyloric valve. I endure this several times a day and it is pure torture.

do you dump when you eat "right" ?

I eat right 99.999% of the time. Severe duping syndrome is independent of what is eaten.

How are you by the way. How did your surgery go? You recovering well?

you eat low fat and low sugar but you still dump? that's weird. like, you go protein and fiber first but still dump?

i'm not doing really great, i just passed a tiny amount of gas for the FIRST time since surgery and its really painful still. besides that, its going ok.

I had RNY 3 years ago and I can say i have never had a dumping episode like that!.  I just get a lil dizzy and sleepy for about 20 minutes.

Do you dump like that like it is physically painful?!!  n u feel your stomach contract and stuff?, that sounds more like when food get stocked in your pouch but dumping? it just sounds weird to me because i have never experienced it like that.

if that would happened to me like that!  I'm sure i couldnt not take it !! and I would want a revision too. I'm sorry you had to go trhough all that pain, im sure is not fun at all! hope your revision goes well n your happy with the result.

Altho I had the RNY . and im a very happy RNY'er!!
I still don't understand the people who want to dump. i didnt had the rny cuz i wanted to dump!!! thats just sick. I think people thinks you can only dump from sugars and thats soo no true! so yes i think there is a miss u nderstanding about the dumping syndrom. altho it is not the rule for all RNYers. and  there is other complications with this surgery that are worse than dumping! and with other surgeries also. so it is just a personal choise. and people should be well informed before making a decision.  I cannot be more agree with that!

N yes I think your opinionated. but you are free to post whatever you want  aslong as you are respectful and u've been so far, and if people dont like it ,they simply shouldnt read your post. so don´t botter to explain people about your intentions on posting your experiences. so let it be.

good luck!

Thanks

The pains, vomitting and reflux are a result of the fobi pouch aspect of my surgery. The RNY part is what makes me dump.
