so i had my surgery last monday and i weighed myself this morning and ive lost 20 lbs. im really happy about that but im wondering if anyone else has had food cravings. For some reason immedietly after waking up from surgery till this moment ive been craving spanish rice, and we all know rice is out of the question.

i wouldn't know about the cravings yet since my surgery isn't until next week but i've heard quinoa is very similar to rice, except rather than a grain, it's in the same family as spinach. maybe you can try buying some quinoa and find a recipe for spanish rice and make it your own?

I've had food cravings (I'm 2 months out) but it's just head hunger. I decided to try some rice pilaf with chicken the other day and it made me pretty sick, so I'd say stay away from it for a while. My mom is about 10 years out from surgery and can handle rice in small amounts.

Yeah, that's head hunger for ya. I, too, am a week out and all these pizza commercials are a killer! They say it goes away about a month out, but I don't know if I believe that...

I didn't try rice for almost 4 months and one small bite and it was stuck so beware! i'm almost a year out and i still can't do most grains...

Congrats on the weight loss so far!!! Head hunger is an evil evil *****! I didn't have issues with it until I was about 3-4 weeks out... I spent my first 2 weeks at my parents and they thought I was crazy because I kep****ching Man vs. Food.. For whatever reason I liked watching food shows! Maybe it gave me some sort of satisfaction to see it since I couldn't eat it!

I was a food porn addict before surgery, but now it's like outta control. I watch food network ALL THE TIME!!! Chopped and Iron Chef America are my two favorites. I think part of why I like those shows is because the portion sizes are usually super small and it looks like something I could handle. Haha.
