I posted this on the VSG board and I thought I would post a little something about the past 2 months... a day early on this board too! It's a little long, but.. oh well!

I love my sleeve and all the support my OH family has given me. You all ROCK!

My starting weight was 356. Day of surgery I weighed 330 today I weigh 295. Do I wish the weight would come off a little faster? Of course, but 35 lbs in 2 months is more weight than I could've ever lost on my own. Started in size 26/30 from lane bryant and now the 24's i purchased 2 weeks ago are starting to get baggy.

I won't be doing my measurements until Tuesday, but so far here is what I've lost in inches as of 12/28.

upper waist (under boobs above belly button area): 5.75 inches
belly button area: 5.5 inches
waist: 8 inches
hips: 3 inches--- here the area affecting me getting into smaller clothes.. I have a bit of an "overhang" on my belly
Arms- Right: 2.5 inches Left: 1.75 inches
Thighs- Right: 4 inches Left: 4.5 inches
Bust: 3 inches

Tuesday I am going to start exercising at the gym and for the first time in my life I'm kind of excited to do it!!

I feel less hungry every day and I could care less about breads, pastas, rice, etc... I've had a tortilla and papa murphy's delite crust, but honestly I can do without them. There are many things I'm looking forward to in 2011... #1 of course is being a much healthier person and being more confident in my own skin... even if it's sagging ! Summer time is my favorite. My family and I spend a lot of our weekends at the lake and for the 1st time in my life I'm looking forward to being able to pull myself up on a tub from the water. I haven't tried tubing for about 2 years because it was just too hard for me. I also want to get on a plane.. where I'm going, not sure, but I want to show those stupid plane seats that I can fit my ass in them and not need one of those stupid extenders!!!!

I know some people dread becoming 25, but NOT me! I know 24 this year I will be a good bday, but in 2012 and being 25 will hopefully bring me great things.. I'd like to be at goal by the time I'm 25! Which would be the BEST gift ever!!!

Again, thanks for all your support! Love ya all!!!

congrats on your successes! i don't know much about vsg, the two i've really looked into are DS and RnY. with vsg how much did they tell you to expect to lose? its so hard matching up the different surgeries to feel out what is best for me but i'm doing the best i can. i know when i make my decision it will be a life changing one that i can't go back on.

that's a wonderful 25th present to yourself. i turrn 25 this year and i promised myself in my teens if i was not healthy by 25 i would take the leap- and this year i am. we're lucky. seeing this possibility early and being able to make the most of the second half of our twenties. i wish you all the luck in the world. good luck with your exercising. when i started working out last year (my last attempt at dieting before deciding on wls) i LOVED the bike. i have this irrational fear of the elliptical but that will come in time LOL. the good thing about your weight melting slow is that you do have time to exercise and make use of the elasticity of your skin. if it is a slow weight loss journey you might have less sagging skin to worry about- especially if you're working out.

i'm so excited for the little things like fitting in an airplane seat without an extender or wearing boots for the first time in years. its like being born again :) congrats on the inches, that is really something. best of luck to you. keep us updated. its very motivating being able to see all these results. you guys are really giving me the strength to do this :)

take care

Thanks!! VSG is actually the first part of DS. VSG is preformed first in patients that are higher risk to loose 50 to 100 lbs before the rest of the procedure is completed. From what I've seen those with higher BMI's.. 50 + have had great success with just VSG. I start with a 57 BMI and now have a 47. So instead of being Super obese I'm just Extremely... Personally Extremely sounds worse than Super, but I'll take it!!!!

Congrats Kelby! I am going to be studying abroad and I can't wait to sit my ass in one of those plane seats either! That's awesome that you're loosing sizes, as I hear many complain that they don't!

@ Priscilla- You should really check into the VSG. It is the surgery with the least complications- short term and long. The only negative is that the cut portion of your stomach is removed and the surgery is therefore irreversible- but why would you want to reverse it? :) My doctor recommended it because of my age. Definitely worth looking into.
