4 months out from DS!
Hey all,
I've not been around in forever, but things have been going great!
My surgery date was 09/10/10. I've lost 132 lbs from then to 1/3/2011 (today!).
I've been feeling great, with definitely more energy! Some WOWs I've had myself...
-I've moved the seat up in my truck to be more comfortable and to be a little closer to the steering wheel.
-I no longer touch both sides of the office chair I'm currently sitting in.
-I can fit in my friends smaller cars pretty comfortable (even though I'll still take my Silverado over anything any day =))
-I've applied to become a volunteer firefighter/EMT with a local fire department. I NEVER would've dreamed of doing this 4 months ago.
-I can eat pretty much anything I want to, I just limit my quantities and I pay the price for too many carbs and I learn from those mistakes!
-I'm now 296 lbs. I don't think I've been under 300 lbs since middle school (I'm only 20 (almost 21, 7 weeks left!)).
I have my bloodwork scheduled for next Tuesday, so we'll see what my levels are at that point. I'm also going rock climbing in Bloomington, IL at Upper Limits with some friends next Tuesday...something I haven't done since probably middle school.
Now to find me a girl....!
Anyway, here's a comparison photo or two.

After surgery, December 2010 (disclaimer: girl in photo is my friend's sister who decided to help us with a photo shoot, this was a fun shot after we got done):

i am so amazed and inspired by your progress! i am currently looking into ds and rny surgery but i am now leaning towards ds because i have 210lbs to lose. i do have a question though... what are the food restrictions like for you. i know with ds you have to be cautious of sugar and carbs and i am an italian girl who loves her italian food. i suppose if i follow through with ds i could just eat it from time to time in moderation, but i just wanted to know how you felt about the new food restrictions to your diet.
best of luck to you :)
best of luck to you :)
I've found that I can eat pasta in moderation but the best idea is to hold off as much as you can until you're down to your goal weight. You can have some every once in awhile, but it'll make it easier on you if there's meat or something with the pasta to give you some protein. That's the benefit of DS, I can pretty much eat anything and the worst it will cause me is bad gas.
Thanks!
Thanks!
