PCP said NO!!! HELP

So I have a surgery date… YIPPIE… so you would think… (feb 17) I went to my PCP today to follow up with my 6 months of dieting and she sat me down to tell me that she doesn’t think I should have surgery… she told me my mind wasn’t in the right place… really… because I pretty sure I just got to her to "weigh in" and talk to a therapist about whether or not I am ready for this big change… this really scares me ultimately her decision could make me not have WLS or have it postponed form the date they have given me. Please help I don’t know what to do??? I have to go back in 3 weeks and talk with her and hopefully she will give me the ok… Has anyone had this happen?? Thanks XOXOXO

Did she get that opinion based on your psych eval? I would talk to whoever did your psych eval and see what they have to say. It might not be a bad idea to wait on surgery for a little while if your docs are telling you they don't feel you're ready. It's a huge step and getting as much therapy as possible before hand will only help you along your journey. I know postponing isn't something any of us would want, but just be open to the idea that it might be beneficial to you.

Now, that said, has your insurance approved you already? Did you pass your psych eval? If you're already approved and you passed, I don't believe there's a whole lot your pcp can do other than to "advise" you to wait.

what did your other docs say? get a new doc? do you feel your ready
