Hey everybody, I am new here but I have been reading your posts for a while and it helped me a lot in taking "the step".

So here is the deal: I had a VSG about 4 days ago but I still feel extremely weak and the some of the gas build up from the surgery is still present (that hurts a bit). So for those of you who had to go through the surgery; first: congrats, second: when did you feel you had your strength back? Also, when did the pain/discomfort stop?

Thanks :)

I don't have a sleeve, but it took me about 10 days to be back to normal. Are you taking your pain meds?

Feel better

Hey There- Congrats on your surgery!

I had VSG back on 11/10. I can tell you the 1st week post op I was very tired and slept alot. I was very fortunate not to have alot of issues with the gas, but for the little bit I had I made sure I got up and walked ever 2-3 hours. The only real discomfort I had was my abdomen hurting like I'd done a million sit ups.. that too go better each day. After a week it was VERY minimal. I'd say it took me about 3 weeks to back to 90%. I went back to work about 20 days after surgery and the first couple days I was very tired after.

I promise it gets better.. Focus on your fluid intake right now, get your rest and walk when you can.

I'd be happy to answer any other questions you have.

Have a good new year!

I had RNY and my strength came back pretty quickly, within a few weeks, but I'm still easily tired and have to take it easy at 8 weeks out. The gas will be gone within the next week, just keep walking as much as possible!

Thanks for the replies guys!

Congrats to all and your impressive weight loss... I'm blown away by how much each of you has lost and feel  I will never be able to do as well! I don't know why I feel I kind of lost hope, I feel that even with the surgery I won't be ablle to lose much... I don't know why I am thinking that way (and freaking out a little to tell you the truth). I was so confident on losing before my surgery. Eventhough I am already 15 pounds down in a week, I feel it is not gonna keep on droping as I am able to eat a little more...

Ok, that's depressing... Other than that, I am feeling SO much better. I walk a lot and am able to pretend nothing happened when I am with my friends (I only told my best friend). the gas is almost all gone and the only discomfort I feel is when I bend over to put on my socks. It is such a weird sensation; i feel like I am wearing a super tight top.

I just can't wait to be able to work out a little... hopefully soon!
I also feel I am ready to go back to school on monday and to work next friday which I am very happy about!

Thanks again for the support and sorry for venting
