I'm faced with a situation =( Just asking for opinions
Ok...My surgery date is January 4th. I start my last semester of school on Jan 18th. I am scared to death that I'm not going to be ready to go to school that soon after surgery. I know everyone takes to it differently, but what would you do? Any thoughts or opinions? Would you go ahead and start school that soon after your surgery?

I was faced with the same situation. I don't know how long you have waited for approval, but I wouldn't let the chance slip by. I was able to do 3 reg classes and 1 past paced class that starts 3 weeks later. I've heard so many people say they head back to work at 2 weeks, so I'm sure I can do school 2 weeks later.
Good luck with your FINAL semester and in your weight loss :)

thanks for your input ashlee! girl I have been waiting since 2006! hahaha..your right i shouldn't let this pass me by...I don't have a strenuous job nor do I do a lot of walking around campus..if i can just keep my liquids and protein up while being a full time student and working part time i will be good..
my classes had already started when i had surgery. N i was back to school and work 12 days after my surgery i wasnt like in my 100% but i was able to do it, n was not taking pain med so i could drive n stuff.
I got tired pretty easy but i was able to do it so i thi nk you should be fine. just make sure you have no severe pain n carry a bottle of watter all the time. oh yeah and ask your DR.!!! always ask your surgeron.
good luck!

I was off for 2 weeks after surgery and when I went back I went back to a very intense job where I was lifing and bending and moving for 12 hours at a time (I work in a hospital as a CNA). I was really sore and exhausted by the end of the day but I did fine. I'm sure you will be fine to start going back to school that soon after. Just take it easy and if your not ready just let your instructor know and see what you need to study and see if its possible to miss a couple days and just do the studying on your own. good luck
I think you will be fine, 2 weeks seems to be the magic number for a lot of people (give or take a bit because everyone is different).
Also would your classes be all day long? It might be better for you if you have a class, break, class than some people who go back to work for a straight 8 hours or something you know?
Personally I'll only be taking a week off (unless I have some freak complication) but I have a sitting, slow paced job.
Focus is what I would be worried about when it came to school but for me the first few weeks of class where always a little slower paced so that might give you even a little more time to get back into the swing if you really needed it.
Good luck with whatever you decide! :)
