So I have surgery this friday and I am just thrilled.

Im really worried about saggy skin tho. Im 26 and have lost 80 lbs before and didnt have any saggy skin...that was 4 years ago tho. So, I have the same 80 lbs to loose and I am really worried that my skin wont go back to normal.

Did anyone have about 80 lbs to loose and have any excess skin? Is there anything you can do for excess skin during your excersize routines?

Saggy skin is terrible, but it shouldn't be a deciding factor in getting or not getting surgery. (in my opinion)

Really, it's usually hit or miss. It usually doesn't have anything to do with how much you lose. Do you have a lot of strech marks now? I did at my pre-op weight and how they are bunching together, giving a "saggy" doughy look. I'm sure it will only get worse as I lose more. Do you have good genetics? If you didn't have saggy skin before when you lost the weight you probably won't this time-but you definitely could. Most doctors say losing rapidly has no effect on elasticity, but *****ally knows.

Best of luck.

Hi, I'm 26 and I had RNY 9 months ago and have lost 106 pounds so far. Everyone's body is different and everyones skin is different there are many factors that will decide if your skin will get saggy. I was told that of course being young helps our skin, but it also depends on how many times you have lost and gained and lost again because in those times your skin has stretched and is already "loose" That was the main factor. I was at 278 starting weight and have lost the 106 lbs rapidly I only have "saggy skin" under my armpits like the part b/t the bra and the armpit. Also my arms were very very large to begin with so they are really starting to sag now, I dont do exercise though and I know I definitely should do it for my arms, it really helps the skin to tighten up. I dont have any saggy skin on my legs though which is good or on my belly or anywhere else for that matter, everything else is right in place. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I had my surgery when I was 26. I'm 28 now and have lost 260 pounds. Loose skin was and still is a big problem. I had plastic surgery on my arms to removed the nasty hanging arm skin and it makes me feel a lot better. Can't wait to get the rest of my nastiness removed!
