Hey, I'm new here :)

Hey all!  I'm pretty new here.  Well I've been on here a couple months but never posted anything until now.. I was kind of still gathering information really.

About me, I'm a 20 year old college student and I've been obese basically my whole life.  Ever since I was a small child I have been heavy and I've just seemed to grow as I get older (length and width wise..).  I've been on countless diets and weight loss programs since I was 9 and nothing has ever worked in the long term for me.  And although I don't think I eat that much, I always seem to gain weight. ugh..
After a successful weight loss attempt about 3 years ago (I managed to lose nearly 70lbs in 4 months), things kind of went down hill.  I was in a very...toxic relationship for about 2 years, I switched school, had a lot of deaths in the family and just sort of fell into a permanent funk.  A funk in which my weight shot up to its highest ever, 327lbs.  Ouch.  Well that's about when I started looking into wls.  Now, I had heard of wls like gastric bypass and the lap band back in early high school but I hadn't ever really considered it for myself because I was so young and I figured "oh I'll just eat less and exercise more and it'll go away... most of it's baby fat anyway"

Well... I suppose I was wrong about that.  At almost 21 years old I'm going to wager that this stuff around my gut isn't baby fat... it's big girl fat lol

So after months of researching, and tests my surgen and I agreed upon the Sleeve.  I just had my last pre-op visit with my surgen today and he gave me a surgery date of January 11, 2011 (gaah! So soon... and he wants me to lose 10-15lbs by then as well... heh... oh boy)

I'm very happy with my choice and I'm positve about the surgery but still... a little worried.  Mostly just about my ability to really follow through and I'm deathly scared of not losing all the weight I feel I need to lose.  I know the sleeve is effective but still not as much weightloss on average as the gastric bypass.  And I have at least 150+ lbs to lose so...it's gonna be a journey.  I just hope its a successful one.

SO that's my story more or less.  I hope that I'll be on here (and making my presence known) more now and hopefully be able to get any tips, advice, or what not from all of you guys out there.  I hope we all get to be good friends and motivators!

Thanks,

albee out ^_^

Welcome and Congrats on your surgery! I am 3 weeks post-op from VSG! I too have 150+ to lose. There's nothing wrong with being worried or scared. I know I was and still have worries, but I try to keep a positive attitude towards everything!

Best of luck to you on your journey!

I, too, am having the sleeve in January! Just a few days before yours. Some days I'm scared that I wont lose enough and other days I'm sure I can. I'm in the same boat with a large weight loss (ideally I'd like to lose around 175)

We can do it!

welcome to OH..  I am 23 years old and have been struggling with my weight me entire life. I had the sleeve on 11/23 and have lost 21 pounds so far. I think this was the best choice for me. It really is not all that hard..I have been eating the same bean burrito for like 4 hours now lol.. I get full so quick I just take a bite here and there.

I have exactly +100 pounds to lose and from what I have read and heard I can lose nearly close to all of it in 6-9 months. so Im pretty sure you will knock off 100 pounds like nothing as well..
