Afraid to eat too much...
**also posted on the Cali board
Hey guys...
I am not really having a problem but I need to see if anyone else felt like this... lets see. In the beginning when I was having problems (multiple strictures...11 endoscopies) I wasn't able to eat anything. I was pretty much on liquids and I didn't start more solid foods until towards the end of April and had surgery in Feb. When I started to eat I was only able to get in very little and had a full feeling. I am now starting to be able to eat more and it scares me. I don't want to overeat and start gaining weight. I know at 7 months out that I am getting out of the honeymoon stage soon so it just has me worried.
At 7 months out about how much should I be eating? I am not eating too much but I could eat more if I wanted to. I still do a protein shake for breakfast since food in the morning doesn't like me. Please let me know how you all felt at this point when you were able to eat more.
*hugs*

I think everyone at some point has this fear which of course you would considering the problems you are already encountered.
This issue is more psychological than anything. I have trouble sometimes with understanding an accepting that food is not the enemy, it is here to help and nurish us and without it, we'd die obviously. Always remember YOU ARE IN CONTROL....you never have to eat if you aren't hungry and no one will force you to do otherwise (unless by doctors orders).
Since your history of strictures, I'd stick with the soft foods and then slowly experiement with more solid things like the chicken, fish, etc. At 7 months out I was eating pretty much a "normal" diet with a wide variety of foods. Just chew well and you should be good.
I understand how you feel and how scary it can be but you didn't gain all your weight overnight in the first place and you won't regain anything overnight either.

Thanks Emily. I am better about things today. I think I just needed to hear that others go through this as well. I am doing pretty good with the whole eating thing. I just need to add more veggies but I'm getting there. I haven't gotten the hungry feeling back so much yet so when I eat, I eat because I know I have to eat. The only time I dont eat is if it has gotten too late and I have all of my protein in for the day.
Thanks again
Nathalie
