i was thinking of getting a tattoo to remind me of my surgery date. it would be a tiny one of the date of my surgery in roman numerals. i want to get it because i am not doing as well as i want to. i want to have a permanent reminder that i took the most drastic step there is to try to solve my weight problem. i think i need to get it more than i want to get it. i am so upset with myself that i am only two months out and i am regularly eating **** that got me to 400 lbs. i don;t know what its gonna take for me to realize that this is it, the bypass was the one thing that i wanted for so long, i got it, and now look. i am sabatoging myself. i think i am going to get it. this sunday maybe.

If you think it will help, go for it! I'd recommend you get it somewhere that's easily hidden. You don't know how you'll feel about a tattoo when you're 60. Know what I mean?

On another note, have you thought about seeing a therapist? I just started seeing one about a month ago. She specializes in eating disorders. She's really young and totally understands the kind of things I'm going through. Just an idea!

I love tattoos, and I am planning my next one.  However, I don't think that a tattoo will solve your problem  The therapist idea is probably a better one for this moment in time.  A permanent reminder is a positive thing, but if you think that getting a number tattooed onto your body will help you eat better, you're mistaken.  You need to deal with the mental issues that got you to 400 lbs in the first place.  You don't need a reminder; I'm sure you think about your bypass all the time anyway!  You need someone to help you deal with the food addiction.

I think these other members are on to something you should talk to your surgeons team (social worker or dietician or psychologist) if they have one about your eating.  The last thing you want to do is harm yourself with food that you shouldnt be eating.  Dont get down on yourself its never to late to stop and reverse and start doing the right thing.  There are times I eat things I shouldnt be eating and I stop myself and remind myself where I was and where I am and where I want to be and it basically kicks my butt back into reality.  Im all for getting a tattoo I love them as well but seriously that reminder isnt going to do anything for you mentally or psychologically.  I would get the tattoo when youve reached a point in your weightloss that your comfortable with then that could  be your reminder of how far youve come.  Not being negative but what happens if you get this tattoo and  the outcome of the surgery is not in your favor.....then your left with a grim reminder of a failed attempt at weightloss.  Please dont think of this in a negative way but it could happen and thats the truth.

Please try to take care of yourself and remind yourself that your worth it and work your weightloss tool to your advantage. I know you can do it you were brave enough for the surgery so I know you have alot of will power in you to meet your goals. My best wishes are with you hon!!!

What sort of **** are you eating exactly?  There are ways to tweak diets so that the lack of favorites isn't going to send you over the deep end.

Live out loud!  How many people's lives have you touched recently?  Pay it forward
