I started my pre-op diet yesterday. Its high protein, low carb, low fat, low sugar for the first 5 days then the last 2 is liquid only. My problem is I am at a loss on what I can eat right now. I had a side salad with low fat dressing yesterday for lunch and that was all for the day cause I did not know what else was ok..... Any help would be wonderful!!! I go Wed. for my pre-op and know I can ask then but until then I am starving!!!!  Also what is a good multi-vit to take for after surgery? Or any other Vit. I am at a loss!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!

Chicken and poultry tends to be a very good lean meat .. as is venison.  I'm assuming something like grilled steak would be good to.  The good part about a high protein diet is that you can still eat all the really solid main course dishes you liked .. just don't do sides.  Like .... you could do something like cutting thawed chicken breasts into strips .. dipping them in egg .. rolling in parmesan then frying in the oven [using a nonstick spray or olive oil is major help here cuz they do stick] along with asparagus or green beans [no butter but these are among the low carb veggies i've found].  If you like coffee you could mix a scoop of vanilla protein powder with your favorite creamer [1 or 2 creamers] and slowly add in coffee to make a high protein coffee drink.  You do have to mix the protein and the creamer first and then add the coffee to it and not it to the coffee or your protein cooks to clumps ..

Being a DSer means I don't have to watch fat in my foods, but I'm used to low carb.  OHHHH my personal favorite as for the snacks .. pickles wrapped in ham :) yumyumyum.  These run about 1g carbs for 2 or 3 and 12-20g protein.  I don't know the fat stats though .... sorry.

Go to bariatricadvantage.com and they have multivitamins made for people with wls.  I take the high adek for my DS.  Good luck :)

Also ... I forgot to address some of the vitamin question .... you may also want to start a chewable iron and calcium /w D shortly after surgery.  The iron needs to be taken apart from the other vitamins and calcium and shouldn't be taken with dairy/poultry/eggs .... I don't know why exactly lol but just something to watch.

If you look up vitalady under member search in the community option at the top of the page ..I believe she is a RNY patient but is our resident source for all vitamin questions on the DS board.  I know many post-op people swear by her vitamin regiments for keeping their labs all neat and gorgeous resultswise.

Best of luck to you!
