hair question
Ive come to terms with the idea that I might just wake up bald one day : ) I'm tired of the hair loss but I'm past my grieving stage I think. I'm in a sorority and have rush coming up in a week or so. This year I'm actually excited about it bc Im not the fat sister anymore, I'm normal!!! Anyway, I DESPERATELY need to color my hair...will this completely destroy my hair? I have read conflicting views that people say do it bc it thickens the hair shaft and makes my hair look fuller, and others say no dont its horrible! Opinions friends before I do something I'll regret?
I have thin hair in general both strands and amount. Stylist at the salon I go to said dye it to make it look fuller. And your better with sticking with brunette as going blond will make you look like you have less.
Also make sure its a good quality dye such as Feria. Basically the higher priced ones.

Bleaching will cause it become brittle, possibly break. Going darker or colored (like red) does thicken and condition the strand. If you didn't want an all over darker look, I'd ask to have it foiled in a couple or a few colors. That is what I do, it adds depth, making it appear as if the strands are thicker and makes it look as though you have more hair.
I am a hairdresser by trade, not my current profession tho. lol It is true that dying your hair will make it thicker. The dye make your hairshaft expand and it inserts the color pigment inside and then closes back up. I would go to a good hairsalon (not like a supercuts or hair cuttery) and tell them what your going through. They will make sure they do the most gentle process on your hair to avoid cuasing more hair loss. Which, I'm sure you know, can come from extreme bleaching and frequent hot tool styling. I see your blonde in your pic and I'm sure a few highlights won't hurt anything.
