Hello everyone,
I am new here...just been reading posts for the last month or so.  I have been to a seminar and now have my consultation scheduled for July 30th!  I am so excited to get the ball rolling...a little about myself...

I am 27 years old, been overweight most of my life.  I suffer from PCOS, high cholesterol, and Insulin Resistance.  Diabetes runs in both sides of my family so I am looking forward to having this surgery so that I can eliminate that awful disease from my future.  I am married for 7 years now and have two beautiful children, a 2 year old boy and a soon to be 4 year old girl.  I could not ask for anymore in life except to lose this weight and enjoy life with my family.  I am looking forward to being able to have energy, look amazing, and have good health!!!  So glad to have the chance to talk with others in thier twenties who have had wls!

Welcome!

I am 27 myself had surgery 5 years ago and maintaining my weight perfectly easy. No issues or complications.... I LOVE my DS. I have been overweight since the age of 3, and have 2 perfectly normal siblings.

What surgery are you having? If you want to eliminate your diabetes/insulin resistance the Duodeanal Switch is the best for that not including the best for mainting weightloss.

I myself suffered from severe PCOS and the start of insulin resistance when I had surgery. My PCOS you could say is gone, bad skin patches, less and a slow down in hair growing in places we dont want it. My insulin resistance is long gone, was gone right after surgery for me.

I know I'm just happy to be back in the saddle....litterally!

I am going to have the RNY because I don't think my insurance will cover anything else...Will the RNY help with PCOS and IR?  I sure hope so!!!  I know a few of my cousins that have PCOS have had it done and they have been successful, although they both still take metformin to help maintain weightloss.

Welcome!!   Your story sounds a lot like mine.  I am married with a beautiful 3 1/2 year old son and my life was fine, except for the extra weight!  Life is so great now, it's amazing...I can't wait for you to experience it also.

REALIZE Band on 04/21/10 with
Welcome to the boards!

Getting my band has been the best thing I have ever had. I had type 2 diabetes and in just under 3 months I have been of meds totally and aslong as I keep up my good work, I will not have to worry about it again.

I hope everything works out and good luck in your process.
