Okay- I am pretty sure I will soon be approved for a LAP RNY, and there are some questions to which I would like answers, but I've not been able to find them online thus far. Thanks in advance for helping :)

**I am 27, and have about 100lbs to lose total... I have no idea how much excess skin will be left when I'm done! I can't find reliable info on how being in our 20's changes our skin- is anyone willing to talk about what will realistically be there?

BTW... I'ma  compulsive information junkie. I always want to know "why" like a five year old ;) Sorry if I end up annoying anyone!

I guess it is different for everyone. I'm in my 6 month pre op diet yet, so I am curious about this too. It all depends on age, how heavy you were at first, skin elasicity, and dna...

I hope weight lifting pre op will help me cut down on skin :(

I am 4 years out and was 27 when I had surgery... I also had about 100lbs to lose by the time I had surgery... I need a full body makeover... about 35-40K worth... I carried most of my weight in the middle so my arms and legs are not horrible... I have been working out with a trainer and they have improved with the building of muscle... she also gave me a butt which is something I didnt have before. My stomach is horrible... I have the spare tire thing around the top that if I get bloated or go up a little in weight gets huge.... the bottom stomach is huge and hangs down... its disgusting... in clothes it is fine but I know whats under there... it begs to be cut off but I just dont have the 15K to get it done. My inner thighs have some excess skin and some cellulite on the back and I have some bat wings on my arms but I can except those if I could just get rid of the stomach. Also my boobs... well lack there of.. I was a full D when I had surgery and now Id say I am a B... I wear a padded C bra so it holds the skin, boobs and gives me some shape... they need a lift and some implants but again I can live with those... like I said good in clothes but naked everything goes to hell. lol
I wouldnt trade it for anything in the world... Id much rather have the body I have now then have continued on the path I was before... its definately something hard to accept because you work so hard to lose the weight then have to deal with the flub but its a trade off for being healthy and happy.
I suggest to all newbies to start saving for PS now, save as much as you can then decide later what you want to do... being younger I feel its more important to us then somebody who has 10, 20 years on us... especially if youve never really been thin... just want to be like everybody else!

It varies by each person. Each persons skin reacts different. Some are more likely to rebound aothers not so much. A good way to tell is do you scar easily or get stretch marks easy. This usually means your skin won't rebound so well. This is a good indicator but not true for everyone.

My face, neck shoulders, and legs all rebounded nicely, but the mid section, where I carried the weight the most, shrunk some but still required some help. To the tune of 9.8lbs of skin that came off and I honestly need a little taken from the mid back section, but have found no real reason to do it at the time being. I had 180lbs to lose though also.

Hope this helps a little
