I need your advice please!
Hey guys,
So, surgery is monday. It got here so fast I'm having a hard time comprehending where the past few months have gone! If you could please tell me what things I should definitely take to the hospital I would be so appreciative. What did you take that you didn't really need? The education I got from my surgeon's office says to take my own toiletries? How many of you were even allowed to take a shower? I'm sure my husband will appreciate not having to lug as much crap around as well. Also, what were you glad to have once you got home? Thank you!

my surgery was on monday the 15th and i got home on friday, you will be wearing the hospital gown for the entire time so all you need is the clothes you came to the hospital with, but i would bring 2 pairs of underwear. i wasnt allowed to shower however i did put on deodorant and brush my teeth. So those are the only toiletries you will need. besides the few minutes i was walking around the halls with my IV tower, i was in my bed or in the chair in my hospital room. I had zero energy. As for entertainment, i downloaded a bunch of podcasts onto my ipod and brought my weight loss surgery for dummies book. The rest of my days were spent sleeping. Hope this helps!
I brought a change of clothes, deoderant, toothbrush/paste, and slippers for walking the hallways. A few magazines or a book. I did get to take a shower the day I was discharged.
When you get home if you have a recliner I recommend sleeping in that for at least the first few nights, as it is easier to get up from. besides my DR. wanted me to sleep elevated. Lots of pillows in bed would be fine, Have sf Jello, sf ice pops, and broths on hand at home.
Good luck and see you on the losers bench soon

Hey girl!
I was in the hospital for 2 nights stayed in my gown the whole time and did not shower. I brought and USED my tooth brush/paste, a hair brush (and hair ties), CHAPSTICK ( your lips and mouth will be so dry chapstick was my best friend), my computer, a pillow, seasons of my favorite show on dvd, slippers, face wash wipes, lotion, and a change of LOOSE FITTING CLOTHES to come home in. I also made the mistake of bringing some other things that were just a waste of space and energy to get there and back :) Good luck with everything and i cant wait to hear how it goes!!

Thank you everyone for your advice! :) DVD's are a great idea, I didn't even think of that. And I literally never leave the house without some chapstick, haha. I'm worried about taking my laptop or my iPod though, afraid they might get stolen. So, I'm getting very nervous, but seeing as how I need to be up at 3am, I think I'm gonna go to bed and at least try to sleep. Thank you all again and I'll update you ASAP :)
