food ?????
So... I feel kinda stupid even asking this question so forgive me in advance. I am 4 months out and am really confused on what to eat. I was 275 day of surgery and I am about 228 as of today. I have had a rough road so far and didnt lose any weight the month of April since I was in the hospital the whole month and in march I lost only a little bit since I was only home 10 days that month. In May i started losing again but this time very very slowly.
I am going to ask my doctor on Thursday but in the meantime I would like to ask here. When you were 4 months out what types of food did you eat. I am just so confused...
Any help would be appreciated.
thanks
Nathalie

Your weight loss will fluctuate, so it may not be that you are eating the "wrong" things just that your body is getting use to the fact you are steadily losing. Remember, our bodies are hardwired to keep weight on as a survival tactic so when we lose a lot of weight it throws the body into panic mode where it will try to hold on to every ounce. No worries if you are following your surgeon's guidelines, you'll still continue to lose. Every month, your weight loss will slow until you hit about a year or so then it may stop all together. 50-60% of excess is the average lost for patients. Some will lose more or less, even if they do everything "perfect" .
I'll just show you what I've eaten today as an example of what I eat. Your surgeon may have a different idea and you may not tolerate certain things but if you just need an idea, here it is.
Note ~ I am a pesca-vegetarian so I don't consume any meat products other than fish, cheese and eggs.
Breakfast ~ 7:30am
1/4 cup Egg Beaters egg whites
1 Josephs Pita (high protein and fiber, only 3 carbs)
1T organic ketchup
After workout ~ 10:30am
1 EAS low carb chocolate protein shake
Lunch ~ 12:45pm
1/2ish of a garden salad with 1 chopped boiled egg, various veggies and a drizzle of a mustard vinaigrette on top.
1 piece of bible bread flat bread
1TBL shrimp salad
Snack - 3:30pm
1 container of Yoplait Greek Strawberry yogurt
2 strawberries
2T blueberries
I'm planning on having maybe a veggie burger for dinner with a salad, I haven't thought that far ahead yet!
I edited to note that I've also had about 40oz of fluids at this point. About 30oz of water and the rest in the form of green tea.
