I am 19 years old and just beginning the six month diet prior to my surgery

I am hoping to find, and stay in contact over the course of the next few years - some individuals who are around my age that have had/or are in the process of having the Gastric Bypass surgery. I was recently approved by my psychologist to have the surgery and am completely excited. Even though I know of the hard work ahead of me, I am in such a hurry to get to surgery and begin my journey!

Thank You, feel free to add me and a friend!

Hi Andrew,
Welcome :) My name is Allie, I'm 24 and having RNY on the 21st of this month. There's some great people here with a wealth of advice. You might want to check out the main RNY board also- there's so much to learn! Congrats on starting your journey!

hey sweetie,
i'm 23 and i just had my surgery last wednesday.  i also had to do the 6 month pre-op diet history.  trust me, it is over sooner than ya think.  try and attend support groups as much as you can, to get a feel for the new lifestyle you'll be living.  start exercising now, that way after surgery you will have a routine to go back to instead of having to start a new one.  walking is so good for you, and it's easy ... so is swimming.  god bless you and feel free to ask me anything, as i am learing too myself!

Hey,
I'm Erin, I'm 23 and I had lapband surgery almost four months ago. I agree with the other people who posted, it's really important to get into an exercise routine now. I wish I listened to that piece of advice before my surgery. Keep us updated, the 6 months will go by really quickly. Good luck

Welcome! I know just what you mean. In every support group I attend I'm usually the youngest present. I attended Weigh****chers off and on before I even thought about surgery. Luckily the time I put in to it came in handy when my insurance company required 6 months evidence of weightloss attempts. I never really lost any weight of course which was supported my claim for surgery. It's over before you know it!

Have a great journey and keep us posted!
