Pre-op question
Yes. I would start living like you are post-op.
Start in the routine of the vitamins. Biotin can help hair regrowth.
Start drinking 60-80oz of liquids a day.
Start eating healthier. Track your food just to make sure you are getting adequate amounts of protein, fats and carbs. This will be good to drop a few pounds pre-op which your surgeon may want you to do anyway.
Start learning to chew your food thoroughly at least 20 times every bite - this can be weird at first but it's necessary post-op.
Stop smoking or drinking pop, carbonation and caffeine if you do any of those things. I love green tea, decaf coffee and water flavored with crystal light now. I don't miss pop, soda, coke at all. I've had a grand total of 2 pops in the last 2 years and it really wasn't all that great.
Start exercising regularly if you don't. If you don't, start small with like walking 3 days a week...work up to 5...try jogging, join a gym, buy some boot camp DVD's, invest in some weight training equipment, anything. Exercise is a huge key, find something you enjoy doing so you will continue to do it.
Get use to just taking Tylenol for aches and pains. I never realized how much I took other things like Advil or Motrin until I couldn't anymore.
Do not buy any new clothes if you can help it...you won't be in them for long. I loved the second hand stores the first year post op because you go through sizes so quickly. Wait until you are about a year out or so before you go on a huge shopping spree. :-)
Remember that this is a lifestyle change, YOUR lifestyle change. You will have to do these things the rest of your life just like showering or brushing your teeth. Embrace the change. You will feel a million times better.
Know that you will screw up...everyone does and it's ok. Just don't ever feel like you failed. You only fail if you quit trying.
Good luck!!

hey girl!
emily gave really great suggestions for you!
i couldnt stress enough starting to work out NOW instead of after surgery! get your muscles moving and in a routine, so its easy as pie once you can work out again post op! im so glad i did this before and it made after so so so much easier for me!
even if its just walking after dinner for a half hour a night to start off, im so excited warmer weather is coming so you dont have to be stuck in a gym necessarly all the time to get your work outs in!!
good luck girl!!
