WLS and Looking Older
I'm afraid that after the surgery and after I lose a good chunk of weight, I will look older than I am. For example, someone I know had the surgery and after she lost weight, she looks a lot older than what she is. She looks like she's in her late 50's and she's in her late 40's.
I'm so afraid this will happen to me. I want to stay young for a while. I've wasted my entire life being fluffy and I really want to live and be my age when I lose the weight. Has this this happened to any of you?
I'm also nervous about having sagging skin. Is there a way to prevent it before surgery or an exercise that will help tone it up afterwards? Since we are so young, I'm curious if it will be saggy or if it won't. What are your experiences?
Thank you!!

I hope I don't look older. I have spent all my life looking older because of my weight. I have never had the body of a teenager I really hope I look younger. Sorry I am no help I am pre-op.

I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

It's funny you mention this because I just read an article about things that make us look younger/older. They used sets of identical twins for the research. Unfortunately (according to this article) the skinnier people did look older compared to their more overweight siblings...as did the people who smoked, tanned and drink alcohol. But just like everything else in life, this is just one example and not necessarily what will happen to you. I wouldn't not get WLS just because of the chance you might look older. I'd rather look older and be way healthier! Do I look older? Honestly, yes I do when I look at pictures of myself. I don't know if this is because I'm thinner or because I'm pushing 30. It doesn't bother me though, we all get older...just part of life. Also, genetics play such a huge role in what we will look like it's impossible to say that WLS or anything else "caused" someone to look older....maybe they were destine to look older than their age anyway? Sure factors like I stated above won't help the cause but I'm a believer in we are the way we are and we'll age naturally the way were were meant to, regardless.
There's no way to know if you, personally, will have a lot of saggy skin. We are all different in that area. Naturally, the bigger you are..there's more of a chance. I'm living proof that exercise helps. My arms and upper body look great..but I have some genetics and very hard work at the gym to thank for that. My legs and tummy are a different story. But again, not a reason not to have surgery. You can always get plastic surgery along the way if you choose. I will warn you that loose skin can be a psychological problem if you let it be. It's been a struggle for me, at times, to be happy with myself with loose skin but usually it's because I'm upset about something else and it just tends to go there. Loose skin is way worth the health I have now. Plus, I think we think it's way worse than what it is. I mean, it's not like I wear belly revealing tops or short, shorts...so no one else knows or sees the areas I consider problematic. I may get surgery one day but for now this is just how it is and that's ok.
Good luck!

dont woryy about that you are in your 20's you are gonna look way younger!!!
now everyones thinks im younger than my lil sister. n i get a lot of coments that i look like 19 or 21 n im 25. so i wouldnt worry about that :D.
about the excess skin. girl dont worry about that yes there prolly would be some saggy skin but who cares you can get that fixed. and any lose skin is better than being unhelathy and overweight!
so focus 1st on being healthy and then about everything else.
you are a beautiful girl and u will look great!.

I was looking at the before and after pictures and it seems like people who are older, like in 40's and 50's appear to look older after surgery. People in their 30's look younger after surgery. So maybe I'm worrying for nothing :)
And thank you Mariana, It's nice to hear something like that from a girl as gorgeous as you :)
