Hi guys-

so this morning I was elated.I am currently working with the Kane Center for my surgery.  This week I had scheduled appointments with the nutritionist, the psyc, the doctor they require and i had scheduled my appt wit the pulmonoligist.  I already have had all the blood work done last week that tricare requires.  So I was elated I thought after this week I would have everything done and we could submit to insurance.

well the doctor they sent me, was like how long do you have to do a supervised diet.  I told him tricare doesn't require any, to which he responded "really, I thought they all did." well I want to see you in a month. oh and I want to put you on a prescription to lose weight."  I said no I really don't want to be put on a prescription.

he said ok well see you in a month.

I'm bummed because now I have to see the nutritionist, psych, and "their doctor" in amonth, plus no guarantee this is the last time I have to see them.

I just feel mad because when I met with my surgeon he was like ok get this done right away and lets do surgery in march, (I leave in june for jordan for a week, and he said I need to have at least three months recovery time to go) well now my second and unnecssary appointment is march 23 and therefore I will not be able to have surgery at least until after my trip so we're looking at late july early august.

I'm just miffed.

i'll be posting this on a couple other boards, sorry if it clogs the boards

OOOOOH BEST PART

when i scheduled my follow up in March I got told that the doctor who told me I have to come back in a month ISN'T EVEN GOING TO BE THERE ANYMORE!!!!!!!! so I have to meet with another doctor

That does sound extremely unnecessary and frustrating!  The bright side is July/August isn't too far away, even though it may seem like an eternity.

Hang in there and hopefully you can have surgery before your trip!

I'd meet with another one of their doctors now. I would tell them how long you've been waiting thus far, how some insurance companies are dropping that requirement simply because it hasn't been shown to have any effectiveness, how your surgeon has likely been working with you to lose at least a little weight....anything you have to say to make it happen. I've had doctors pull this crap with me before, and maybe it's just cynicism - but I think it's a money grab sometimes. Insurance abstracts all the cost stuff out of it for the most part, but it's another $200 in your doctor's pocket if he makes you come back in a month.

I really think you could get something going if you complained enough...don't be complacent! good luck!
