insulin resistance
Sorry I'm not much help but wanted to say good luck. I have PCOS and was only taking the glucophage (metformin) for infertility reasons. To be honest I don't know that the meds did anything for me. I was on optifast for a while while I was taking it, so I did lose weight but after I got off the optifast, not much difference. I stopped taking it prior to surgery.
I was diagnosed with insulin resistance. I took glucofage briefly, but it made me really sick so my doctor switched me to Byetta. However, I stopped when I had surgery, which my surgeon said was okay to stop since I wasn't actually diabetic. The insulin resistance thing was a BIG part of my choice to have surgery because of what happens when they do the whole intestine bypass thing.
I really recommend this 60 minutes episode.

If what they claim here is true, it's awfully compelling and encouraging. Anyway, personally I'm supposed to see my doctor in a couple weeks and I'm really looking forward to seeing the results of my blood tests from my last visit....

I was insulin resistantant prior to surgery and was taking metphorman. After about 2mos after surgery I was no longer insulin resististant and no longer needed to take medication for it. I wish you the best of luck with this journey!
If you want to get somewhere you have to know where you want to go and how to get there. Then never, never, never, give up!
