Sorry if this is TMI, but my last BM was 8 days ago!  I don't hurt, or anything like that, and I know that I am hardly eating anything, since I am still on a full liquid diet, But it the past 8 days, my weight has been kinda funny!  I GAINED 4 pounds.  I know that I am still so early out, but has anybody else experienced this, and whats safe to take for constipation at this point?

(I am going to call my dr in the morning, just kinda thought about it, and it all hit me at once!)

Thanks,
Jess

I was actually the worst constipated right after surgery.  I didn't go for days. However, keep in mind that considering the small amounts you are eating and liquids, you aren't going to be going very often.  8 days is a little much, so I would recommend the stool softener (as surgeon first).   I have problems going now due to my twisted colon but I will literally get sick if I don't use a softener or a laxative.  It sucks but so it is.  Good luck!

I wasn't actually constipated, but my stool was extremely hard several days ago (I'm 7 weeks out). I took one dose of dulcox and was fine the next day. I have been "normal" since.

I am 6 months out and recently had to start taking a daily stool softener cause I would go a long time without going, and would be in pain.....my surgeon said it is cause all the protien. You may need to talk to your surgeon to prepare for it down the road, plenty of liquids and daily stool softener and occasional Milk of Magnes..
