A couple QQ's

I'm almost 3 months out and I have a couple of quick questions for anyone that is able to answer...

1. I'm not having any problems LOSING hair yet... but the last month and a half my hair has been SUPER STATIC-y (is that a word?).. Is there any tricks that you guys know to tame the static? I use conditioner every day and I try to leave it on for a couple minutes each time. Someone I work with told me to put lotion in my hair but I'm afraid that will just make it greasy!!

2. Do we have to take CHEWABLE vitamins forever? I don't have any problem taking pills (I have to take actigall twice daily and that pill is pretty big)... so why can't I make my vitamins the kind you swallow too? Right now the doctor has me taking flintstones twice a day (I know, I know... everyone freak out) and I want to switch to something else but I dont want to pay a fortune and it's hard to find chewable vitamins other than centrum (which is kinda nasty). I read on the main board that you shouldn't take your Vitamin D in gelcap form and that is what I use so I'm kinda confused....

3. For the ladies... I got a mirena IUD inserted a couple of months prior to surgery and since surgery (almost 3 months ago) I havent had a period. I know that's probably not THAT unusual because of the rapid weight loss and hormone changes and everything but I was just curious if anyone else experienced this... (and NO, I'm definately not pregnant lol)

Thanks in advance!!

1) I'm pretty sure there's something you could buy at like Ulta that will take care of static, but I'm not sure how expensive it would be.

2) I switched to a capsule form of vitamin at 5-6 months out, BUT its really important to get one that is specially made for people after WLS to make sure it has the right nutrients in it in sufficient amounts.

3) While I don't have mirena, I am on the shot and while I was having periods before WLS I stopped having them right after surgery and didn't have another one until about 5 months out, my Dr. just said it was because my body was in shock from all the weight loss.

Hope that helps!

 Hey!

Static hair always gets worse in winter...dry air, etc.  I do this year round but I only actually shampoo my hair once a week and the rest of the time I rise well and use conditioner.  I also have very curly  hair that gets very dry, so this might not work if you tend to have oily hair.

I was allowed to swallow pills at 4 months and have had no problems.  I have just a generic multi, calcium citrate with D, biotin and another vit. that I have always taken not related to surgery in pill form.  All my blood levels came back great and I feel good, so the generic pharmacy stuff seems to be working.

I also have a Mirena and had one "period" last year...it lasted a day.  Totally normal, totally awesome!

1) I use paul mitchell super skinny serum to tame down my static crazyness. lol
2) I started taking big girl vitamins the ones you swallow at about 4 mos out, and havent had a problem since, and all my vitamin levels have been perfect too.
3) im also on mirena and my periods have been very light if i even have one, sometimes i go months without one, and my doc says that complely normal, sometimes they stop all together which is totally normal too.

i hope this helped alittle. good luck with your journey!!

If you want to get somewhere you have to know where you want to go and how to get there. Then never, never, never, give up!
