OT: But I gotta VENT!!!

Its been a crazy 4 days here in Louisiana...  We haven't been above freezing since Thursday, well till today, and My water pipes have been frozen since Thursday night!  So me and my little one haven't had any water.  We bought lots of gallon jugs and have been filling them up else where.  Boiling water for baths, and ect...  Well I had a plummer come out on friday,  and they told me that it was frozen under ground, that they would have to dig up my yard to find it, and then try to defrost it!  (not to mention that they wanted $2500.00 to do this!)  I said NO WAY, since we were just suppose to be freezing for just a couple of days!!!

WELL today it finaly got abouve freezing, and when it did, apparently, it went to fast, and BURSTED that underground pipe, which flooded my closet (thats right next to the ho****er heater)!!!  and I called a different plummer after turning off the water completely at the meter.  He came out, and said pretty much the same thing, that they will have to dig several large holes in my yard to replace these pipes, and sever in my attic as well!!!  

So in 3 short days, I went from $2500.00 to almost $5000.00!!!  I am in complete shock!!  Who has an extra 5 grand laying around?  NOT ME!!!!  but it will work out, my dad said that he would help me get it fixed, even if he had to pay for it!  (I HATE taking money from my dad!)  But I am going to get 1 more opinion tomorrow morning, and then let the work begin!  UGH...  

And all this HAS to be taken care of before surgery on feb 4th!  I CAN'T deal with WLS and water issues at the same time!!!!  WHY did I ever buy a house!  I should of stayed a renter!!!  Booooo!

Do you have homeowners insurance? This happen to me a few years back and my insurance covered everything except the $200 deductible. I know it depends on your policy but you may want to check it out. I know it's not easy to come buy $5g's like that.

Sorry this is happening to you!!  We've had frozen pipes and burst lines in our house as well so I totally understand.  I hope the weather changes for you very soon, I know you guys aren't use to that down there.  

Totally check into homeowners insurance like the pp said....nothing wrong with checking and you might be surprised.  Heck, even if it just ended up cover part of it that would help you out a lot.  

Deep breaths!  This is just one of those hiccups in life, it's frustrating but in the big picture it's just a minor setback that will be easily fixed!!

I completely forgot about my home owners insurance.  Just one of those bills that always gets paid with my car insurance, and never even thought twice about it! 

I called them this morning, and they got an adjuster out here now looking at the damage!  I only have a #300.00 dectuable, and they will cover the rest!!!! 

OH THANK YOU FOR REMINDING ME!!!  

PHEW... I feel so relieved!

So glad you were able to use you homeowners to cover most of it!!   This is deffinately crazy weather for us Louisianians!!  I had to actually wait for ice to melt on my windshield yesterday?!?!  this is Louisiana this is not supposed to happen here!!  Good luck with your upcoming surgery!!!!
