Stricture

Well I haven't been on in  a while and updated anything because I spent some time in the hospital getting all sorts of fun tests run with no outcome.  They rehydrated me, gave me potassium (UMMM OUCH), and sent me home.  So that a day later I would have to call them back and say, "Back to throwing up."  So they are going to schedule an EGD, they were supossed to call me back last night to set that up but they didn't.  OH WONDERFUL!!!  They think I might have a stricture and I was wondering if any of you have had that and if so how are you doing now etc?

 No strictures here but I'm dealing with an internal hernia, so I understand the absolute un-funess of the hospital hoopla.

strictures suck! i've had two at about 2 and 4 months out.  i didn't even know i had one till a follow up appointment when i discussed how things were going.  the first one was horrible i apparently looked like i was knocking on deaths door.  i had to belch to get food down.  by the time i got the first one fixed i was hardly even keeping water down.  for the second one i called after about a week of having symptoms because i wasn't going to let it get bad again.  i havent had one since.  they did warn me that on the second time my stoma may be streached a little to keep the scar tissue from comming back.  i don't remeber if it got streched or not because well i was in major nap mode afterwards from the twilight med and my mom forgot when i remeber to ask her like 2 weeks later.  eating after you get it fixed is like ******ic.  stuff goes down so easy and you can eat again you just need to go slow last thing you want to do is get sick and damage what they just fixed.  well i hope you feel better soon

Ive had a stricture before, they just put you a lil under and then go down your throat so that they can stretch it out a lil. Mines was really bad though, nothing could past through my outlet, like not even water could go down. I was kinda gagging when they had that tube down my throat but other than that everything else was fine. Feel free to ask any questions I will be glad to help in any way.

Thanks so much for the responses.  I have basically been throwing up for a month straight.  I can't keep ANYTHING down.  I munch on ice and that helps a bit but not much because it is back up pretty quickly as well.  Water etc come back up in minutes.  I actually went from 6 o'clock last night to 9:30 this morning without throwing up and even ate some ice because I didn't get up at all.  I layed in bed very still.  Once I got up and got in the shower this morning it started again, got sick in the shower and then driving to work I had to pull over to get sick again.  I have suppositories for nausea (because the pills don't stay down long enough to work) and they help some.  Maybe more than I know becuase I just take one as soon as I am allowed except overnight.  I can't wait to get it fixed....pray for me PLEASE!!  I did so great the first 6 weeks and felt good, I want to be there again.  I am down 69 pounds in 10 weeks but I think the last 2-3 pounds are from dehydration again.....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
