questions!
hi, I am very new to this, and i have my first nurse practioner meeting next week, and I have a few questions, for some of you who have already been through this process. With our insurance we pay 15% of the bill of every doctors appointment, just wondering how much some of your guys's bills were? And what should i expect at my appointment? My surgeon is about 2 hours away, so i would just like to know if i need to bring anything special or something. Please write back, i'd appreciate it alot!!! Thanks!
I have not had surgery yet, but my 1st visit consisted of a small meeting with 4 other WLS patients who were considering WLS and my dr. It was 4 hours long, and explained everything in detail!!! I MEAN everything!!! Then we went back for one on one (and luckily I was 1st and that took about another hour) She got my FULL medical history, of every medical condition I had ever had, and all the Dr's, I have seen in the past 5 years, and a full physical. Then we went over anything I was not comfortable discussion in front of the other people. It was truly a life changing experience. I don't have a co-pay, (I am covered at 90%) and I just got my bill last week for my 1st apt. I had to pay $25.00 for that apt. As with no insurance its $250!
I wouldn't think your 1st apt would be more than $50.00?
I bet if you called them the day before they could give you a est.
(I stress over not having enough money on me, and I HATE taking anything but cash, as I have a shopping problem, so I have to hide my credit cards from myself! lol scary I know!)
Good luck with your journey, and welcome to the board!!! :-) We are so glad to see you!!!

thankyou so much! I actually called the hospital, and said my insurance covers 85%, but i don't have a copay, i'll just be getting a bill in the mail. Did you bring anyone with you to your meeting? I am bringing my husband, and they told us to bring any supporters if we wanted. Just wondering if you brought anyone with you, and if so, did they go into both meetings?
No I didn't take anybody with me, but everybody else in my meeting brought somebody! lol... But then again, I am VERY independent, and never tell anybody anything until its all said and done! My family didn't even know I was considering WLS until after I was approved with a date! :-)
I guess that kinda makes me a weirdo! :-) But I have been that way my whole life!!!
The last time I had to have surgery (I was 4 months preggo) and have to have a tear fixed. I had to go 4 hours away from home for the surgery, as it was so risky, and I drove myself, there and home. My dr didn't know that I drove myself home! lol... I kinda snuck out once they discharged me! :-) But I know better know, and will have a driver after my WLS in Feb.
Okay now I am talking way to much!!!! So I will be quite. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask, and I can give you what info I have!!!
Good luck and keeps me posted!!!
