Step One: Mission Completed

Today I went and visited Dr. Caulkins, my new PCP. I discussed with him my wishes to have the surgery. He was more compliant than anything, I was surprised by how much so. Ive gone through this mess before with other doctors, but this time around things are so much less complicated...or so it seems. Perhaps I have learned not to be anxious about it all. When the nurse check my BP it was a little high, I was a little nervous, Im not going to lie, but by the time the doctor did a complete check up on me, I was fine. The letter goes to Brandy, the insurance cordinator working for Dr. Dort.  I spoke with her today, she even got to move up my date to see my surgeon, which is great. I guess I would like for my Pysch Eval to move up as well because its nearly a month and a half away. Itll all work out though. Im choosing to be optimistic about it  :)

I had a choice of which psychiatrist I could see for my psych eval as long as they were in my insurance network...is it possible to shop around to see if anyone has an appointment sooner?

There are a lot of psychiatrists whom I can see based on my eval, but only three work specifically with my doctors office for this routine kind of thing. There were two others, one couldnt get me in and the other never called me back....I think I might just picked another one close by, and explain what Im doing etc. It might actually be easier....Thanks for the reminder.

No Problem.
I had the same issue with psychs that you are having now. My surgeon gave me a recommendation list but the wait was so long, so I just looked in my provider book and went down the list. Most of the ones I talked to were familiar with the bariatric psych eval. I am so impatient there was no way I was gonna wait a month for an appointment.

Amber,

So, I took your advice and look at another Psych...and it turned out they had some cancellations and I got in today! I still have one more evaluation to do which will be scheduled soon, but I was so excited. Im hoping that he can get me in the next day or two...I do know that the next one costs some money ($300ish) on my part, so that will be something to have to come up with, but I happened to have  that in the back pocket, so....Im going to call back tommorrow and see if I can get back in asap. Thanks so much for the advice!

So the Psych's office contacted ME yesterday. I already have another appointment for tommorrow. I cant believer how quickly everything is coming together. I meet with Dr. Dort next week and if I can get all my dotted and crossed, the difficult part will be waiting for the Insurance's decision.

I had my psych eval today and can hardly wait till my next appt!

I only have 2 appts left, 1 with my PCP  and then with the surgeon on 1/4!

I cant wait to get this going! The therapist said I was an excellent candidate, that was so great to hear. Good Luck!
