LoL that is a lot of questions but its not a problem, I'll try and answer all of them. I had it done at WeightWise in Edmond, OK which was a wonderful choice! The surgeons there actually perform more sleeves than RNY so it was nice to have a lot of sleeve patients there to talk to. It cost right around $12K out of pocket because my insurance did not cover the sleeve. As for pain, the gas/bloated feeling for the first 2-3 days was a little uncomfortable but nothing too bad. As for actual pain, I didn't have any. I never even took any of my painkiller that my Dr. had prescribed for me. The only "complication" I had was a problem with dehydration. I am a very light sleeper so as a result, I did not sleep well at all the night I spent in the hospital. So when I got home the next morning I went to bed and slept for like 6 hours and wasn't drinking water, by like 8pm that night I was very dehydrated and had to go back to the hospital for IV fluids. So I would definitely encourage anyone having surgery to stay on top of their fluid intake for the first couple of weeks even though it can be difficult. I saw your questions on the other response so I figure I'll go ahead and answer some of those too... I had surgery on a Tuesday and I was back going to school all day on the following Monday and had no problems with getting through the day and working out. At six months out I've lost almost 110lbs and I have about 40 more to loose to be at a BMI below 25. I've actually lost as quick as a typical RNY patient and honestly I think that if you loose your tool well and workout you definitely could do the same. So, any other questions? LoL I'm pretty much an open book when it comes to the surgery so feel free to ask away... you can also PM me if you want.

I feel great after a year.  I've lost a total of 140 pounds and have surpassed my goal weight.  I was in pain for the first 5 days after surgery but after that I didn't need to take pain meds at all.  My insurance actually did pay for the sleeve, I paid I think 300 bucks or something like that.  I took a week and a half off of work and was really tired for a while when I returned, so I would always go home and sleep in the afternoons.  Good luck with your decision.
