Hellow everyone.  Is this the way it is for anyone else.  so Yeah I have been on my liquid diet , and my pre op appt is next tues with surgery the following monday.  but even though I know it is right around the corner, I havent really grasped that idea.  I dont know if it will really hit me till the weekend before, when my mother in law shows up to help with my son.  My husband deployed a couple of weeks ago so I am doing this sans hubby.  I miss him.  I wish he could be here for me, but his mother is a blessing.  I am excited for this and I have been waiting a year.  Maybe I am just so busy at work all day that im not thinking about it, although EVERYONE at work wants to know why am I drinking when everyone else is eating.  Lunch gets catered to my work everyday.  and it always looks good.  anyway.  guess Im just looking for peole to talk to.  Thank you.  Everyone take care.  and if your time is coming soon than good luck.  and I know you are excited.  Amanda

Honestly it didnt REALLY hit me until i was OUT of surgery and in my hospital room.... it was such an answered prayer for me... such a blessing and i couldnt believe i was actually going to get this awesome tool to help make my life better ... that i didnt really believe or grasp it until it actually happened. The next few months are going to be a rollercoaster but SUCH a good one... Good luck and if you need someone to talk to feel free to talk to me! haha :)

My date is just around the corner too (only three days after yours!) and even though I feel like I spend half my time thinking about the surgery, there's a part of it that doesn't seem real to me yet.  I can talk about what I need to do before surgery and what I can and can't do after surgery, but I can't quite IMAGINE the whole thing being true.

I also feel like I've spent so much time reading things like the OH boards, it's clear that everyone's experience is different so I think that adds to the sense of unreality.

I'm sure it will be all too real before I know it though!

I think that the biggest thing before hand is that everyone's experience is so different.  From how you will react to the surgery, the emotions you will have, the amount of recovery time you need, and how fast/where you lose your weight.  It is such an individualized course that you can't really plan for it too much.  Just do what they tell you and you will be fine.  Just take it day by day, set small goals, don't try to push through to the next stage too fast.  I am not that far out but you will learn so quickly what is best for you.  Listen to your body, if you are hungry (really hungry not bored or sad or excited etc) then eat.  Stop when you are full.  Walk, walk, walk!!!  Water, water, water.  Protein, protein, protein.  Those are the basics.  Good luck on your choice to make YOU an priority in your life!!!!!!!!!!  Keep us posted!!!!!

I also don't see the surgery as being real to me yet.  I've gotten my vitamins and my protein and I'm ready to start my liquid diet on Thanksgiving.  I keep saying maybe it wills seem real after I go to my pre-op appointment on Tuesday but I highly doubt it.  Maybe it will seem real on the morning of the surgery but I just keep having all of these weird feelings.  I can't wait to start this journey, good luck to you.
Loving my new life and all the wonderful things that go with it, on to my next journey!  99 pounds down and about 10 more to go but it has been a heck of a ride...

the surgery wasn't real for me until i woke up in pain after. I never got any sense of nervousness, which I found weird. but as they were wheeling me into the operating room I got a crazy sense of excitment. Everyone's different!  Good luck! Everything will be great!!!

I didn't think I was actually getting the surgery done until i was in the preop room talking with the anastesiologist (sp) and he asked if I was nervous and it all hit me at once that I was and he gave me something to take the edge off and then the next thing I know I was getting wheeled into the OR and was freezing. After that I don't remember anything excpt for waking up in the recovery room and asking for pain meds.

congrats on being so close to be on the losers bench. the weekend right before my surgery i was like a nervous excited. i had never had surgery or been put under so i was scared for that. my mom was the one that kept me level headed since she had her surgery about a month before mine. everything will be fine.
