Daily Weighing
I know they say don't weigh every day but I really can't help it. I think as long as I am ok with it when it stays the same or even goes back up a pound it should be ok right? Before WLS when I would go a few weeks without weighing would be when I would put on like 10 lbs. I think that checking in and making sure that what I am eating is good for my progess and not waiting a whole week after adding something new to figure out it doesn't work for me. What are all your experiences with this????
You can try it and see if it continues to help you, but I've heard people become obessed with weighting themselves and they weight all the time. This is not a good thing and then you start to feel like your surgery was a failure because your not seeing the results you want. If this starts happening, have someone hide your scale and have them get it out for you once a week or ever every couple days depending on which you want. We need to learn to be happy with our progress so far and know that the weight will come off in due time if we follow the rules.
i get like this when i start losing weight. last time i was down i weighed myself every time i went to the bathroom since that's where the scale was. and i recorded the weight 2-3 times a day. then it kind of got reinforced into me when i had heart failure 3 years ago and had to weigh myself twice a day to make sure i wasn't retaining water. now i probably only weigh myself once every 2-3 weeks because i get upset when i see the number looking back at me.
I weigh myself once everyday when I get up in the morning. I have never weighed more than once in a day...what would be the point? As long as you can keep from getting obsessed about it and don't get upset when it goes up a pound or doesn't move at all then why not...My doctor told me to weigh everyday to keep myself motivated.

i used to go weeks without weighng myself. talk about being shocked everytime i got on the scale. i held off on buying a scale so i would not become a scale addict. u won't lose daily but u will lose weight after weeks. it felt so good to get on the scale and see 20ish lbs missing as opposed to having lost a lb, or being caught up in being stuck on a plateau.

I weigh myself every day. It's a morning ritual. It used to freak me out when the scale didn't move or went up. Now, as long as I'm still within 5lbs of what it was at the beginning of the week, I don't even notice.
Realize that your weight will fluctuate a few pounds. Just because you weigh some number at one point in your day/week, doesn't mean that you weigh that exact number every second of every day. It gets a lot easier to deal with once you get further out and weight loss slows.

Thanks so much for the advice. I think I am going to continue to do what I am doing and if I find myself obsessing I will put it into check. I think if I am doing all the right things I will see results and I have dieted enough times to know that the only thing a plateau means is another big drop of 2-3 pounds. I have always been fine with those. You are all soooo great and I love that we are all at different stages continuing to encourage those that come behind us!!!!
I have weighed myself daily for years... I do NOT let the scale get me crazy. If you are fine with weighing daily and it doesnt become an obession or ruin your whole day if you dont like what it says then I say go right ahead. For me its a tool... keeps me in check if I see the numbers creep up a bit.
