I am over eating

So I am a little over 6 months post-wls.  I am a huge jerk and have been eating too much food and may have an ulcer or might have stretched out my pouch :(  I am so mad at my self and spent all last night crying.

I am still losing weight and I have not gained any but I am so afraid I screwed my self up forever.  I have a scope tomorrow to look at my pouch to see what it going on.

I just thought I would not be able to eat too much.  I can eat a whole grilled cheese sandwhich with out getting sick...I didn't think I was going to be able to eat too much and now all of a sudden it is too much.

Wish me luck tomorrow, hopefully it is an ulcer and I havent stretched out my pouch (fernando)

In the mean time maybe others who are at about 6 months can let me know what you eat typically in a day including ounces?

First off, please don't beat yourself up.  We all have bad days/weeks/months, you are not a huge jerk...in fact, you are actually quite intelligent for recognizing the problem and getting it checked out.
At 6 months, according to my surgeon's plan I was to be eating around 4-6oz of food.  Everyone is different though, so take it with a grain of salt.  But, as time goes on you will be able to eat more.  I know it's scary because in the beginning you only can eat just a few bites and then what seems like all of the sudden you can eat much more than that.  Truthfully, even after you can eat more it's really not that much, it just seems that way because we are so use to tablespoons of food to satisfy us.

How have you been doing sticking to your food plan?  If you haven't been doing what you should, this is a good time and probably a wake up call to maybe getting back into the good habits.  You're not a bad person, everyone falls off the wagon but you just need to dig down to find the strength to get back on.

Good luck to you, I hope you don't have an ulcer.  Keep us posted!

Hi girl. sometimes we think we are overeating cuz now sometimes we feel guilty when we eat. if u are following the rules, protein 1th excercising  the tool like work as u said u keep loosing the weight so ur doing right.

If u seriously think ur overeating messure ur food acoording of what u should be eating this far.
remember that over the time u'll be able to eat more so u will have to learn to make good choises.

Im  almos 2 years out. an man i can eat what ever i want! u would be scared of how much food my pouch can hold. but i don´t over eat and i do watch very carefuly what i eat. so it depens of ur chooises. i don´t blame my pouch if i gain weight or ate to much it was me who ate all that lol.

but at this stage u shouldn be worry about how much ur eating. so if u believe that  is way to much. talk to ur surgeron and get ur self checked. just to be sure everything is in order. rember this is serious surgery so keep ur surgeron update!

other important thing is that our pouch like some  food, we can eat more of something lol. i remember people telling me to not eat bread cuz it would get stock on my pouch. and i do bread perfectly is on of my pouch favorites lol i can eat as much bread as i want. but i cannot eat to much pork or beef. so try to eat the foods who are a lil heavy to ur pouch and u know ur gonna get full faster. "protein" protein! lol.

good luck! and relax ur doing great!
hugs.

I got my endoscope today, and I have an ulcer, a hernia, and they took a biopsy of somthing, I was groggy when they were explaining it so I have to wait to hear from my doctor to see what the next steps are.

Sad face.

But good news, my pouch was normal size!

Oh no!!  I hope the healing process will go smoothly for you.  I guess it is positive that your pouch is normal sized, keep that positive attitude through this next little phase because it might be hard.

Good luck!

oh no I hope they figure out whats going on with you and you feel better soon! I know someone already said this but carbs leave your pouch the fastest so you wont feel full as long either..Protein first and  veggies with fiber youll fill up faster and stay full longer.

IMO its very important to weigh/measure you food until you are very comfortable with your eating - remember you are completely re-learning how to eat and you have to keep teaching yourself until its 'normal'. You will be suprised as you get further out how much you can eat (depending on the food). The other night I ate 2 grilled cheeses and a cup of soup (they were on the really flat bread and only had 1 slice of cheese each... but still thats a decent amount of food).
Its important not to push the boundaries... more than likely you did not stretch your pouch at this point, it takes a pretty good amount of consistant overeating to do so.... either way use it as a wake up call - why is it you are eating so much? are you an emotional eater? I was a volumer eater pre-op... I liked to eat a large amount of food at a time and get that really full feeling... I had to work on that behavior in order to be successful at the weight loss. As stated above dont beat yourself up, its a learning process but you are the one who is in the drivers seat so make sure you are putting in the time/effort/work in order to make the changes in order to not only lose the weight but keep it off.
I looked at this surgery as my last chance... final hope... this is it, no other options.
