OT: engagement fotos! What WLS has done for me!
Since having WLS, I've really learned to appreciate photos. I've learned that photos really do capture a moment in time and FREEZE it for eternity, and I find that looking back at my old profile and seeing old photos of the OLD me (that girl that "I don't even recognize" and that girl that "wasn't me"), it takes me back....back to the memories, back to the struggles, back to it all.
So, since my wedding is coming up in under 4 weeks, I just am so excited to share these engagement photos with you all! Who knew that I could go from a 240+ Lb fatty to "that thin" girl I am today?? I know other people are taken aback when they see how much I've changed, but I think in all honesty,I am just in complete awe of my own physical changes. It's shocking to me at times. When I was shopping for a wedding dress, I grabbed a sixe 8 dress, and couldn't get it to zip over my size D boobs, a girl in the dressing room (it was a community open floor dressing room) laughed while offering to help me zip it. She said "wow, even skinny girls struggle to fit into wedding dresses"..how weird that I was the skinny girl they were referring to..moments like those...shock me. I can't believe it made it through-healthy, happy, and skinny?!
The changes in me physically, the changes in me mentally, the changes in my life as a result...WLS just was a godsend. Even though I had my surgery almost 5 years ago, I still like to come back and share my progress, not just my weight updates, but my life. Because WLS is so much more than weight changes, it's life ALTARING.
I'm happy that I spent all those days my first year blogging all of my experiences, religiously taking measurements, updating my daily diet, and updating with monthly photos of the progress. I look back at my old profile now, and think how amazing that I can peek back into a memory that I don't even recall...it gives me better perspective on people, occurences, experiences..LIFE.
