HI Everyone,
I'm new to this site and just wanted to say hello. I'm a 26 year old female *****cently had wls (approx 13 days ago). I am here to find other people in my age group who have had wls who i can talk to about this wonderful life change.  I have lost 20 lbs so far. For anyone who is farther along than me, on average how much a week? a month? is typically to lose? Does anyone suggest any protein shakes they really enjoy - ive tried a few including the oh yeah brand and I could not deal with the chalky taste. The best thing i found so far was the carnation instant breakfast shakes. Take care and i wish everyone the best of luck in their wls journeys.

hola. wellcome to the board!
congrats on ur surgery!. ur weight loss so far is great! people loses the weight in diferents ways. i was a very slow loser i lost about 24 lbs the 1th 2 months out i was freaking out. but then my body catches up the weight loss.  i lost in a year about the 85% of my excess weight.
so look at the % if u are a light weight ur gonna lose a lil slower.
about the shakes for my experience the vanilla flavors taste better, and u can mix it with any fruit of syrup u like. u can have any u like just make sure it doest have lots of carbs and fat..
good luck! and keep us posted
hugs.

 Welcome!

Everyone loses differently, so there's no real way to know how much you'll lose when...too many factors determine that.

I like the GNC Amplified Wheybolic protein powder in chocolate and it's only 90 calories for a scoop.

I'm still in the 'getting ready' phase, in fact, I just got my date today (and wls is just one month away!)

Anyway, one of the regulars on the RNY board, Pam, has a great link on her blog.  It's got links to all the different websites and most of them offer samples at a reasonable price.  I'm planning on ordering a bunch to have in the house for after surgery because people tell me your tastes change..

I think I'm going to order mine from the 'vitalady' site.  She had surgery herself and she has some suggestions on the site.  You can get all kinds of different samples from her for about $2 each...

Hope this helps!

Hello,
Welcome to OH. I am 27 and had Gastric Bypass on October 5th. So far I have lost 35 pounds.
I am staying steady at about 5 pounds a week. I sill havent found a protein shake that I like. I tried the GNC brand, WalMArt brand, I metabolics and Bariatrix Essentials. Let us know if you find one you like. Good Luck

Hello,

I am also new here... well, not so much to the site, I had been reading through it for months now, however I had not really done any posting until recently.

I also just had surgery on 10/27.  I am having trouble getting protein in too.  I was just able to begin eating yesterday, so hopefully that will help.  I have tried unflavored protein powder added to foods, and cannot tolerate it.  I try protein drinks (I also love muscle milk!), but I can't drink much in one serving, so I feel like I am not getting any protein in, and I'm kind of scared about that!
