Kidney Infection 2 Months out????
Hey folks,
Its been a long time since iv posted.. for the past week iv been suffering from pains down my back and pain while urinating, chronic headaches, fever of up to 102... At first my symptoms sounded like a UTI... Then things got worse I was developing the chills the pain was unbearable to the point where I had to use my left over pain killers from surgery to cope. Are Gastric patients more prone to Uti's Kidney Stones/Infections?? Any advice-
On a more lighter note- I am now down to 198 soo 70 more lbs to go! Im having a very hard time getting my calcium in as a matter of fact I havent taken my calcium in a long time :( but I keep up with everything else.... blahh thanks guys for reading??

That sounds like an infection of some type, the fever is the big tip off. I'd get to a doctor ASAP to get it checked out. Kidney infections are easily treatable but can cause problems if left without treatment for too long.
I don't know if bariatric patients are any more or less suseptible to a kidney infection than anyone else but anything is possible.
Get checked out right away and let us know how you are doing!!

P.S. Congrats on your progress!

People who are chronically dehydrated are much much MUCH more prone to UTI's. As bariatric patients, that is one of the many reasons it is so important to drink water. If you haven't been getting enough fluids, that could be a reason for a UTI.

I got a kidney stone 3 months post op. dont know if they are related but I know kidney infections are no joke! I have had 2 other kidney stones and they dont know if they are related to me being overweight, the rapid weight loss, the surgery.... i could go on and on.
the good news is that the vitamins and suppliments your supposed to take for surgery should help all those functions work properly so that it doesnt happen again. I didnt take vitamins for the first 3 months because they made me sick, and they made me sick right after the stone, but I take them religiously now!!!!
