OK...IAM 6 WEEKS POST OP,

i eat 3 meals a day, take my vitamins amd minerals, and have lost about 30 something pounds..

here the thing..i have an eating issue...since the second week of surgery i have been eating what normal people eat..of course a bite ot two, but im afraid im going to fail..the reason i say that is because i dont prepare meals or plan ahead..i had this surgery to be like a normal person. so if menudo is for dinner i eat it..=( i get the foamies with almost everythig i eat and i dont know what to do..( i kno i kno plan ahead) but am i really setting myself up for failure?

i also can eat carbs with out dumping and im addicted to carbs..this whole expirience has been mind blowing so far, and i enjoy looking in the mirror and noticing my shrinking body..but FOOD is driving me nuts im still a food addict and im still consuming regular foods, ( THAT I KNO ARE NOT GOOD CHOICES) and all im trying to do is be "NORMAL"

i kno alot of u have dealt with this..so PLEASE  gimme some advice to get me through this addiction and this MENTAL battle.

all advice is welcome PUHLEEEZE..

I am still waiting for my surgery but have several family memebrs that have done it.  Being hispanic I understand ur dilema.  By what I have seen in my family if you do not
make the right choices you will loose weight then gain it back.  You have to change your eating habits now, otherwise, why did send the money and put urself through this?  You are only 6 weeks post op, don't sit down and eat with your family, eat before them for now that way when they are eating you are already full.   When you go to family gatherings and I know how much food is laying out during those times, keep a bottle of crystal light in your hands drink through it.
Good Luck

The one thing that is on your side is the fact that you have this tool...sooo since your 6 weeks out you have to dedicate yourself for change now...Now the changes you make will reflect in your confidence and weight loss and I'm sure you will feel awesome after you make this change..You have to work your tool or you would be failing yourself if you don't put in the effort of change..Your doing great so far... Just use this time to change old habits...

Food will always be my enemy, which is sad but I'm starting to realize it's true.  You are right, it is all mental and when you are addicted to something just the sight of it makes you want it or obsess over it.   That's why it has to be a day by day journey....every day you  have a new opportunity to do a little bit better.  We will slip and fall because we are human but we have to pick up where we left off.

I don't necessarily "plan" most of my meals either and I don't think you necessarily need to have everything written out in black in white...my life certainly doesn't accommodate for that too often.  What I do try to do is have healthy food options available to me at all times so even if I don't have something planned out, I know I will have something that's good for me to eat.  Ever nutritionist is different but mine actually want me to eat "normally" and with the rest of my family.  So if, for example, I'm making tacos I'll eat what everyone else does in the form of a little taco salad or something.  Also, I we don't really dump on carbs...sugar and high fat we do but we won't just because it's a carb like toast or something.  Again, my nutritionists would rather have balance and have told me that it's not healthy to become fearful of or to cut out an entire food group.  Normal, healthy people eat carbs and so can we if we make sure they are the healthy kind.

Also, don't set yourself up for failure.  If you keep telling yourself that you are going to fail, then it just may very well happen.  Instead, tell yourself there's no reason for you to fail...why should you?  You have your tool, you know what you are suppose to do.....no reason at all for you ever to be back at square one.

Good luck, I know it can all be overwhelming but you are doing fine!
