Question about 6 month diet....

So I was talking to somebody on OH and they told me that when they started their 6 months supervised weight loss diet their doc included the previous month that she went in. Even though it wasnt for weight loss they still documented all the info needed for insurance purposes. (Ht, wt, bmi, etc) So that knocked her down to 5 months.....

Anyway my question is I started my 6 months in Aug, but I went in on the 24th of July to ask my doc questions about the surgery. So she documented my info in that visit. So even if I officially started my diet on Aug 8 can she still document July's visit as the first month? (I know its only like 2 weeks, but the doc's visit was in the next month)???  OMG I hope I didnt confuse anybody! Thanks for your responses as always!

Personally I only had to do a 3 month diet pre-op but I went in for my first visit with my surgeon Feb. 26 and Feb. counted as my first month and I was able to submit to insurance at the beginning of May.
