Disappointed - big time.
Hey folks. So, I attended the WLS information session at Celebration Health. It was really what was going to help me make the decision of yes or no to surgery. After the information session I was on a high, I was really impressed by the staff and the surgeon. It was just great.
Then.
This morning, my husband looked into his insurance (which is what I use, too) and we found out that they do not cover WLS. It says "surgical treatment and non-surgical treatment of obesity (including morbid obesity). I am so sad. And really let down... I know that I can appeal, but I don't know if it will be successful or not... and I'm worried. I don't really know what to think.
Has anyone else had to appeal? Have you been successful? I just don't know what to do...

i have not been through the appeal process, but i hope someone that has chimes in. not to make you more disappointed but from what i have read if your insurance doesn't cover wls, then it just plain out doesn't cover it, and an appeal wont help. however i wish you the best of luck, and hope you are able to appeal.
I'm teling you don't give up. Because that's what happened to me with my insurance company as well. I had RNY bypass surgery and they paid for it all. You just have to get refferals and letters saying you need surgery. I had to jump through many many hoops to get where I'm at today. If there is a medical reason most insurance companies WILL cover it. I would still try to appeal. DONT GIVE UP GIRL.
