I switched to regular swallow vitamins after 6 months but I was cleared to at like 4 months.  I take a biotin supplement for hair growth...it really does help.  Not sure about the cramps, I've never had that.

Emily,

How much Biotin do you take? I bought some at Wal Mart today and the bottle says to take between 1 and 5 per day...

I take one biotin (1000mgs) a day.  I just buy whatever from Wal-Mart/Target/etc. and it works great for me.  Obviously a little time is needed for it to get into your system but it should help with the hair falling out...it's been great for my nails too.

Edited to just remind you not to take the biotin with your multivitamin because not all of it will absorb because the multi has biotin too.  I usually take my biotin with some calcium at night.

I personally like the chewables cause pills and the pouch really dont' get along. However, if you're up to taking pills, you should absorb them just fine.

I am 9 months out, and my hair has just finally stopped falling out. Started after 2 months, so it was definitely aggravating. Biotin might help.

As for the cramps, my first thought was dehydration. Make sure you're getting in enough water. Also, add a banana or two to your daily diet. If you can tolerate them. My muscles cramp easily, but that's due to an arithritic condition.

Hope this was helpful.

ok i know that every surgeon is different, and so is each person. but since day 1 i have been taking regular pills, for the first month i cut them, for being scared they would get stuck or whatnot. but i seriously gag on liquid, and chewable no thanks. i have always been a really good pill taker. i actually take 2-3 pills at the same time (i am not advising you to do this though).
ahhh the dreaded hair problem, i had that problem till around 9/10 months out. i used bition supplements and nioxin shampoo and conditioner. also if you are not getting enough protein it will continue for your hair to fall out.

leg cramps, in general that is a vitamin deficiency, using leg cramps are associated with low potassium, however it could also be low vit d, c, or k. try eating a banana, and ask your health care provider

HEY GIRL...

MY DOC SAID I COULD START TAKING THE PILLS RIGHT AWAY...WHICH I DID AND IM 3 WEEKS POST...( TOTALLY NOT WORKING FOR ME) SO IM SWITCHING TO CHEWABLES..BUT I DONT SEE A PROBLEM WITH YOU TAKING THEM NOW...

AS FAR AS THE CRAMPS GO..
ARE YOU GETTING ENOUGH CALCIUM CITRATE?

CALCIUM CITRATE IS TO PREVENT CALCIUM DEFICIANCY, OSTEOPOROSIS, AND MUSCLE CRAMPS.

I WOULD ALSO MAKE SURE YOU GET ENOUGH FLUIDS...

HOPE THIS HELP...=)
