Saggy Skin? Worried

Ok.... so I am going to get the RNY in January 2010 and Iam 26 weighing 270. One of my biggest fears is the extra hanging skin that I may have.. I almost am more comfortable with the thought of filling out my skin, but then again not because I hate being this fat. Could some of you let me know how bad the extra skin is after losing a lot of weight, and how you feel about it? Does it make you feel worse or do you just feel great having lost all that weight?

I need help. LOL.

THanks.

Everyone is different. Some people have alot some have a little. So, be prepared you never know how your body is going to react.

Like the last person said, it varies from person to person. However, I would take my saggy baggy arms and tummy over weighting almost 300lbs any day of the week. I'm down to 200lbs and have lost 98lbs so I'm super happy. Plus if it really bothers you, you can always get plastics done. good luck!

It depends on the person. I'm not one of the lucky ones. Mine is bad :( Truly. My arms are awful, I can pull the skin on my boobs out by about an inch at least...

But ya know what? It's better than weighing what I used to, so I'll take it. I've already started saving for plastics, because I'm going to need a lot of it. I do work out hard 6 days a week or so, and that seems to help, but it isn't doing a lot for the actual skin, just making what's underneath it look better.

well i feel your thoughts, lol, i weigh 275 and i'm 27...i haven't gone to talk to my dr yet about WLS....but i've been researching and finding out as much as i can. i bought myself a book and have been reading it faithfully every night....last night i covered the excess skin chapter....honestly it kind of scared me because i'm so big....i want to lose weight, not gain batwings!!!!  the dr who wrote the book said that excercise is a major part in getting the skin back to normal however it also depends how much elasticity you have left in that skin....i guess the younger the better, and he said keep up on the protein, and don't smoke obviously! he mentioned about past patients he's had and they've had surgery to remove the excess skin, and they had actually lost another 10-50lbs due to removal!! there will always be scars if there's nothing to hide them right? like a facelift you can't really see scars becuase it's in the hairline and behind the ears....but for the back of the arms there's one big line along the back....the thighs i believe they do in the bikini line so it's not too noticable....have you tried looking on a surgery site or even tried you tube? lol, you can find anything on you tube, it's crazy, lol
don't even worry about the skin, well try not too anyways. i understand how you say you'd feel more comfy filling it then having it sag, but everyone is different and you may just bounce back!!! there's always support stocking/band kind of contrapments you can wear for a while before you decide to get plastic surgery.....just think how you'll feel in the end, you'll of lost a lot of weight and be healthier!!!!! and that's the whole reason you signed up for this deal!!! good luck with your surgery girly!!!!

I am 27 and I was weighing in at 262 and in just 4 short months I am down to 169. Do I have sagging skin hell yes. Would I rather be 262 or have sagging skin that's easy I love my new weight. I will take all this saggy skin over not being able to walk up my stares any day. When I wake up every morning I feel great. I don't dread getting out of bed because my feet knees and back are killing me. I can walk now without the waddle. I can cross my legs and I have a lap now that my kids can sit in. Before my belly was so big it took up my whole lap. I now realize what I did to my body and it is not pretty but I would take all my saggy skin over being 262 any day of the week.

Ill start by saying I would take the skin over being overweight any day. I will be honest and say its hard sometimes and feels not fair to have lost all this weight and still deal with the sag. My stomach is my worst area... it was my worst pre-op and was the thing I couldnt wait to be gone and its still there. Thankfully my arms/legs came out well and as more time has passed and Ive worked out more and taken up running they have improved even more. I am almost 3.5 years out and my body is still changing so its great to see the improvements no matter how small they are.
I find dressing your body right is the biggest confidence booster... most people would never know what is 'lurking' under my clothes because I make sure to dress right for my body. I do think about plastic surgery all the time and would love to get it one day but again am SO happy to have almost 150lbs off my body I can live with the saggy skin.
