Maybe OT People think I'm way young.

Pretty much a rant but anyway...
So I am almost 26 (December 22) and people just grr... Anyway it pretty much started the day befor school started back three people asked me if I was going back the next day and everytime I said "no I'm 25" and they look at me shocked or something.  I just don't see it, but almost everyday someone will ask me if I'm in school or how old I am, maybe its just getting redundant or something, it shouldn't really bother me I suppose, but it does.  Tonight we had the first ever support group meeting for our area.  I'm pretty quiet so I didn't say much.  Then one of the ladies says "she probably just feels out of place with all these old ladies".  I wasn't even the youngest there, the two younger girls are 20 and 23 and I think they both look younger then me.  So after everyone knows how old I am, one of them says she thought I was 16 and was wondering how I got surgery so young, others said they were thinking the same thing.  I suppose it isn't terrible to look young and all, but really 16?  Anyway I haven't really posted for a while but I just felt like ranting I guess.  Thats all, yep, uh huh.

 I really would take this as a compliment, even though you are probably very sick of people pointing out the fact you look young.  It probably will be to  your advantage years down the road when you look 30 instead of 50. :-)   

I think people assume things and make comments about it out of something to talk about.  Example, my husband has salt and pepper black/grey hair...he's said it's been that way since he was 18, his mom went completely grey by the time she was 27, it's genetic.  But people CONSTANTLY point out that he has grey hair and he gets so irritated.  What's really funny is the fact that people will say it like he has no idea (which I'm sure you get sometimes too) and sometimes he'll play along with that because he loves to mess with people.  

Anway, I can understand your frustration but just tell them how old you are and leave it at that.  I have to always remember that people can just be really dumb, rude, idiotic ...so keep that in mind also...lol...

I get this to. like this weekend when i was at the oh tx conference and i was sitting at the table with my mom and some ladies we didnt know they all thought i was 16 til i told them i was 23. I have gotten that all my life that i look younger than i do. You learn to just say ok and move on b/c its not going to change and it will be good for the long run when you are in your 50s and still looking young
