I started my liquid diet today and I am starving. I work in the evening and the highlight of my workday is my lunch hour and now i don't even get to enjoy that. What the hell am I going to do for an hour? Maybe I will go on a walk. Tell me about your liquid diet experiences PLEEEZ.

OH my goodness you too babe.....I started mine today too and this really sucks! I work 3rd shift and I know I am going to be so crappy at work tonight, and the damn protein drinks I bought are nasty so I am going to have to go to the store first thing in the morning and find something different because if I have to drink these nasty things all week this is going to suck! Girl we can do this!!

I only had to do liquids for 24 hours before surgery and to tell you the truth, that was the worst part of the whole thing.  I feel your pain.

Just remember that it's only temporary and it will be so worth it after you have your surgery and your new life begins.

Hang in there!!

Hey I just noticed that we have the same surgeon! I was so happy with him btw. My liquid diet did suck but the good thing was I was allowed 1 cup of veggies a day (they should give u a list). I lived for that cup just to get me through the day! good luck and it really does get easier and its all worth it in the end!

The liquid protein diet is DEFINITELY the worst part of the whole ordeal. I had to do it for 3 weeks and no additional foods like veggies or anything...yeah it was bad. You'll do it though and you'll be awfully proud of yourself! Good luck with everything!

Hang in there ladies... Just think of it like this... You are doing this to make the surgery safer for you and easier for your surgeon....

Also by doing this it gets you in the frame of mind for what will come after surgery...I had to do two weeks of protein shakes... I was allowed one bar a day...

I found different ways of making the drinks good. If you have vanilla protein powder mix it with diet orange soda for a creamsicle type drink....Or mix vanilla with diet root bear or creme sodas...

I lost 15lbs with my pre-op protein diet. The first few days are rough, the hunger pains will go away.. Just hang in there and stay focused!

I started my all liquid diet a bit over a week ago.  It wasn't that hard for me at first, then got much harder and now its getting a little easier.  I'm starting to get really tired of it though I'm having a really hard time getting as much as I should have.  Lets see...what works for me...

I have the chocolate 100% Whey GNC brand.  I tried the cookies n' cream  and thought it was nasty.  The chocolate is okay mixed with either 6 or 8 oz of water.  A little richer of course in the 6.  I have to drink it very cold for it to taste okay.  I haven't tried it hot but it may be okay.

We also tried the strawberry Body Fortress from Walmart and thought it was really nasty.  I mixed it with less water just to see and it didn't work either.

I make sure I carry a can of something around with me too just so I can put it in ice and drink it when I'm hungry.  I've been out to dinner with friends and family twice and it was easier than I thought  to drink that and water while everyone else eats.

I just talked to one of the doctors at the hospital and she said I could get the unflavored stuff from GNC and mix it with anything liquid that would still be in the guidelines.  I figure some chicken broth, which I've had a couple times anyway would be a nice change.  I'm sure there are other full liquid things that it could be mixed with.  If I try some I'll let you know how it goes.

Good luck, make sure you do find something else to do while they eat if it bothers you.  That way you aren't just thinking about what you can't have.

I feel your pain. I too am doing the liquid diet thing. I started 9 days ago and I have 5 days left. It has gotten a little easier for me. I have to get my kids to cook their own food. I tried cooking for them the first few days and it was just too hard. I do ok if I just stay away from where anyone is eating. Some days have been harder than others. I also do better if I stay busy. Some things I've been drinking are: sugar free instant breakfast, slim-fast optima, sugar free pudding, cream soups, broths, low fat sf yogurt, sf popsicles. I got some protien powder in vanilla, chocolate and unflavored. I mix it in just about everything. I can mix the unflavored in my soups as long as I don't heat it too much. I have noticed it has been much easier since I upped my protein. Good luck! You can do this! We can do this!
