Hi, my name is Tracy.  I've been a member of OH for a while now but haven't posted to the boards much.  I started the process of looking into WLS in March and just got my date for Setp 28th.  I'm not really as excited or nervious as I thought I would be.  I'm sure that will come though.  I tend to be okay with things until the last minute.  Anyway I'm supposed to be starting a two week all liquid protein shake diet on Sunday.  I don't have a lot of money to spend on this though, which I think makes getting a good shake hard.  I got the Body Fortress brand from Walmart just to give it a go, since its really much cheaper than some others.  I also got GNC Pro Performance.  I was wondering if anyone has experience with either of these?  I don't have time to order anything online.  I just got my date a few days ago.  If you have another brand that you just love please let me know.  I would love to find something I can stick with.

Thanks!

Tracy

Thanks!  I'm starting to get more excited about the surgery since I start the liquid diet in the morning.  The surgery is at a military hospital so I know there is always a chance I could get bumped for something else.  That is why I'm trying to stay positive but not get too excited.

I think the question people ask me the most is how I'm going to live without being able to eat this or that ever again.  Or never be able to eat as much as I want at Thanksgiving.  I don't think most people understand that I will live without it to be healthy and thinner.  I always regret overeating but I do it again and again.  I've gotten better though, and I'm happy to be on the road to a thinner, happier, healthier me.

I got some strawberry body fortress from walmart because It was recommended by my surgeon and It was cheap. but i hate it........ I hope your experince is better than mine . my only advice is this . buy them from places where you can take them back....

ETA I use carnation instant breakfast with skim milk and powdered milk for some extra protein . It keeps me full , its good and the price is nice too.

We tried the strawberry body fortress the other day and I was surprised by how bad it is.  I figured it would just taste off, but no its terrible.  I'm sure they won't let you return it, well maybe but I don't think it would be worth the fight.  I'm going to try to doctor it so my husband can drink it for breakfast.  I've read that you can add coffee cream powder to them to change the flavor.

I do like the GNC brand chocolate though.  The cookies n' cream is just okay, I don't think I will be able to drink much of that one.  I didn't read the directions well enough the first time and mixed it wil 8 oz of water instead of 6 so it tasted kinda nasty.

I know I like carnation but I don't think it will work for the diet my doctor wants me on.  I think if I mix these with milk once in a while it will be really good.

This morning I make my strawberry BF withskim milk and added some powdered milk . I put it in the shaker bottle and shook it until my arm hurt. Guess what viola!!! not great but definitely tolerable ( as I look and realize it has taken me since 9 to fini****) !!!
