Alcohol?
I am still pre-op , but I have been researching this for 4 years and have been thru the pre-op program 2x and I have not heard this.
I have heard that we should be careful post op due to the sugars and that whole addiction transfer issue . Oh and the fact that it will take less to get us tipsy. But nothing about ulsers....
Im interested to see what you find out.............................good luck on monday...

Moderation, no carbonation which leaves our beer and sparkling malts like wine coolers due to the fact your smaller stomach cannot handle the volume of gases.
Other concerns:
The calorie factor, at 300 calories a pop think of every drink as 1/10th of a pound you will not lose that week.
Transfer addiction, if you are mourning the loss of food you could end up drinking too much
Ulcers are not considered a risk in moderation:

What is not a risk factor
In the past, eating spicy foods or drinking caffeine or moderate amounts of alcohol were thought to increase your risk of developing an ulcer. This is no longer believed to be true. But although certain foods or certain beverages may not increase your risk of developing an ulcer, they may cause symptoms of heartburn or indigestion. You may need to avoid them if they bother you.
Biggest factors are have already been mentioned: quickly intoxication, empty calories and transfer addictions. Also, watch out for any drinks like margaritas that have a boat load of sugar. I might be getting old but drinking isn't as much fun as it use to be in my college days, plus since I'm so close to my goal weight the extra calories just aren't worth it. But, I don't think there's anything wrong with the occasional drink or two.

Hey South Dakota. I'm like an hour away in Minnesota. My girlfriend lives in Sioux Falls, so I'm always there. Small world.
I agree with everyone else. yes you can drink, yes only in moderation.
Its never a good thing when you hear you can never drink again right? like, whats the point?
I also try to avoid drinking because of the sugar and calories but sometimes you just wanna be normal!
good news: You will totally blend in with everyone else at the bar. you might have a tiny drink and it will take you all night to drink it and you will have a good time.
