Amanda- I do not live in AZ but I just wanted to tell you that I did the same thing you are doing 5 years ago, and it is the best thing I ever did! I lived in Michigan my whole life, and moved to California. I did now know 1 single person in California. I met my roommate on-line, and everything ended up working out great!
Once piece of advice that someone told me when I first moved out here that I always followed "If someone invites you out to do something- DO IT! even if you don't feel up for it" This piece of advice helped me so much! And forced me to meet people, and be in situations where I had to talk to people I didn't know.
Just wanted to share- best of luck to you! You sound like an amazing person- and your posts always inspired me!

Thank you sooo much for ur reply! it seriously made my day. I've been struggling and freaking out and being like why the hell did I do this.... but i know there was a reason and I'm hoping it will present itself here shortly before I go crazy lol. I will definitely take that advice and run with it! i'm hoping everything will be okay here. I'm just a little nervous/scared/etc which i think is normal! Did u move for school or work or just to move? I had a job back in WA and one of my biggest things is that I'm worried i won't find another one, thinking i should have made sure i had one before i left. AHH! But thank you soo much anyway.... you inspired me a lot and made me feel like maybe it will all be okay :)

Welcome to Arizona! How do you like it so far? I moved here from Washington about 18 months ago, and had my surgery in June.
What part of Arizona do you live in? I'm in the East Valley... specifically Gilbert.
