Caffeine dehydrates you, so you can't really count coffee as a fluid. Make sure when you drink coffee, you up your water intake a bit.

That said, I count coffee toward my protein goal. I get a skinny vanilla latte from Starbucks. It's got 130 cals and 13 grams of protein. Add some extra protein to it (Starbucks has it), and you can get another 6 grams of protein in while enjoying your beverage.

For me, my starbucks is kind of a pre-breakfast thing. And essential for my functionality thoughout the day!

Good Luck!!!

skinny is sugarfree syrup and skim milk. our soy milk is actually not very good for you, so id definitely skip the soy.

Theres skinny vanilla, hazelnut, caramel, and cinnamon dolce (which is the most delicious, in my opinion) lattes.. all sugar-free, skim, and you can even make 'em decaf - i usually do, just in case.

I put extra protein into my lattes too.. you can ask them to add a scoop to any of your drinks pretty much... one scoop is 8g of protein. And i also purchased sugarfree vanilla syrup (you can buy the syrup by the bottle) so at home, when i make my protein shakes, i add a few pumps of it for a better taste.

i experiment a lot when im at work, and ive yet to find anything WLS friendly/delicious enough to eat besides the skinny lattes. when i find more recipes i'll keep you updated! just avoid that soy, unless you've got a lactose issue. too much sugars/calories we don't need!

Good to know we've got a barrista around!!!

Starbucks owns my soul, but sadly, I'm okay with that.

coffee doesn`t not count as fluid or meal. u are just a couple of months out of surgery so i'd try to stay away from cafein cuz it dehydratates you and can make u a lil dizzy. and it might hurt ur pouch. so try to drink decaffe i'd wait till 6 months out or so its very importatn that u get all ur fluids in. and is already hard to get the water so if u drink the coffe ur gonna have to drink even more clear fluids to replace it.
have a skini late is a very good idea cuz it has protein and a shot of cofe so it will help u with the cravings a lot!!! or a capuccino with non fat milk. be creative! (coffe with milk felt so good when i was near out)
good luck!!! and listen to ur body it will tell u what to do

hugs!

ooh yay a barrista!!! (sp?)
my issue is that i get to bed by 11pm up by 5am and travel an hour and a half into work (sometimes 2 depending on delays) so my coffee for me helps me function. so decaf wont cut it. for me its either all or none. (unless theres energy in decaf i didnt know about)
i didnt know you could add protein to coffee, will they look at me all crazy?
no, im not a lactard but i love soy... sad to know i should skip it... well it would save me .40c lol
thanks for the advice all
if not coffee then what do i do for energy?!?!
