need protein supplement suggestion
Hey everyone..I'm starting my second week of my pre-op diet and I'm already getting sick of the taste of my protein supplement. I'm taking the Body Fortress in the flavors of Cookies n Cream and the Vanilla. Does anyone have any suggestions of a brand that taste good and the taste doesn't get too old of. Especially after surgery. Any tips would be great. I have surgery next Wednesday..I'm so exited and I want to have a heads up on the protein..Thank you..Danielle
hey danielle!!!
I am also in the second week of my two week pre-op liquids and by day six i was sooooo tired of the protein drinks.... I just started drinking the slim fast low calorie drinks and those have the least protein smell and taste. annnnddd i was in walmart and picked up swiss miss diet powder which only has 2gr. of protein but mixed with a cup of skim milk that makes ten gr per cup. So, I have been drinking just one of these at night. Good luck! Your day is coming sooo soon!

I really reccommend IDS protein bullets. They are really good watered down. I mix one with 32 ounces of water. They're clear and taste like gatorade. They don't have any protein taste at all. I only get the grape flavor cause the other flavors have more taste to them. They have 42 grams of protein and I've had one every day ever since surgery.
Post-op I can add banana on the pureed diet but shouldn't try peanut butter til soft foods because the hit of fat might cause dumping.
I drink Worldwide protein ( think that's the name) and it's 30 g of protein in 11 oz and it's only $20 for 18 drinks at Costco. I actually love it- it doesn't have a heavy or chalky taste and if I drink 3 a day I hit my required 80 g of protein and then some!

Good luck with your surgery!!!
I am so frigging tired of the same protein shakes. I'm not a "sweets" person, so drinking something sweet every day drives me nuts. I need the protein, however, so I still manage to drink one a day.
My tips:
1. Make a shake in the morning, take a few sips, toss it in the fridge, and sip on it all day. You still get the protein in, just not all at once.
2. I'm now a milk junkie. Love me some cow juice. gram of protein an ounce, and other good stuff too!!
3. I get my protein as much as I can from other sources. mmm....steak.
Also, this is a great website for protein shake recipes. Get out the blender and try a new one! If you don't like it, try again! it's trial and error, but you'll figure it out.

My new kick is the Muscle Milk Light ready to drink vanilla flavor. It tastes kind of like white cake batter. For fun, I toss that with a few frozen blueberries in the blender and let 'er rip!
Good Luck!!!
